Lemon Drop Shot – A Beautiful Mess

Lemon Drop Shot was the first shot recipe I’ve ever learned. This recipe is a cousin near the classic lemon drop martini. Serving at parties is so fun and wonderful. There is definitely something perfect in the combination of sweet and sourness. This recipe is very fresh and delicious. It tastes like lemon drop candy.

Lemon Drop Shot Ingredients

  • vodka – The base spirit of this shot is vodka. We recommend high quality, medium priced vodka like Tito’s, Gray Goose and Smirnoff.
  • Lemon juice – Fresh squeeze!
  • Simple syrup – For sweetness. You can easily create your own bath using a simple syrock recipe.
  • sugar – You also need granulated sugar to fill the glass and candied the lemon.
  • lemon – Cut into wedges and use as decorations.

How to make a lemon drop shot

  1. Cool the ingredients: Start by chilling vodka, fresh lemon juice and simple syrup. Pre-cool these ingredients to ensure that your shots will be refreshingly cold.
  2. Prepare the glass: Take a cold shot glass and rim with sugar. To do this, dip the edge of the glass in water or lemon juice and then dip it in a small dish of sugar. Gently twist the glass to ensure a uniform sugar coating.
  3. Mix the cocktails: In an ice-filled cocktail shaker, mix with vodka, lemon juice and simple syrup.
  4. Shake violently: Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for about 10 seconds. This chilled process also helps to slightly dilute the mixture and balance the flavor.
  5. I’m nervous and serve: Carefully apply the mixture to a sugar rim shot glass prepared from a shaker.
  6. Serve with sugary lemon wedges. Part of the experience with this shot is chasing the shot in one bite to a sugary lemon wedge. Don’t skip it as it’s tasty and the best part of the experience!

Tips for making

  • If you want to change the flavor profile a little, try Flavor Vodka (such as Raspberry Vodka). Try swapping vodka in different flavors or try citrus vodka (such as Absolute Citron) for a more intense experience.
  • Inject sugar-grated lemon zest to increase the sensory experience (our sense of smell is very connected to our taste). You can prepare a shot glass with a sugary rim or dip the lemon slices in sugar and use as a chaser.
  • We recommend sticking to fresh lemon juice and skipping the bottled lemon juice for the best flavor. The goodness of lemons from fresh lemon juice actually passes through such a short list of ingredients.
  • Try half lemon and half fried juice.

The history of lemon drop shots

The history of Lemon Drop Shot is closely tied to the Lemon Drop Martini, a classic cocktail that emerged in the 1970s. The Lemon Drop Martini is known for its vibrant blend of vodka, lemon juice and sugar, and served as an inspiration for a shot recipe.
