As a creator, sometimes we feel things. We can see, feel, hear things that others can’t see. Bringing those things into reality so others can see, feel, hear, smell, taste them too is part of the magic and struggle of creativity. Those of you who have been here for a while now know that Jungalow is a brand born from a blog. Jungalow has been a digital-first brand from the beginning, but I have always dreamed of bringing Jungalow into the real (offline) world. I imagined a space where we could connect as a community, create together, inspire each other, and embrace each other (especially after experiencing the isolation caused by the pandemic). For years, I had been looking for a physical location for Jungalow’s IRL space. And in late 2022, I spoke with my brother Shai, co-owner of Jungalow. Lower rowlocated on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood. I asked Bottom Bunk what they were doing on the second floor (their storefront is on the first floor) and they told me they sometimes rent it out for events. Sometimes, huh? My head started rolling! That was the first moment I envisioned opening Jungalow Pop Up of LA on the “upper level” (lol!) of my brother’s business. We had our first meeting with the other co-owners of Bottom Bunk in February, worked out the details within a few weeks, and started construction in May!
We worked with Jeff, Sue and the amazing team. FTB Design As for construction, FTB has extensive set design experience and is used to ultra-tight TV production schedules, so they were not intimidated by what we considered an ambitious timeline (being in the space on May 15th and completing construction by early June).
I worked with my sister Faith Blakeneyis an incredible interior designer with an unmatched attention to detail. We created mood boards together, picked paint colors and flooring, and thought about different architectural details we could add to give the space depth. And honestly, Faith brought our vision to life beautifully. And, fun fact: Faith also designed the Bottom Bunk!!! So, it’s truly a family affair here!
We’re on the second floor, so we wanted to draw people in the moment we opened the doors to our pop-up. We’ve only been open a few days, but this staircase Tigris The prints (in the larger sizes) seem to be popular on social media (thanks to everyone who loved #jungalowpopup!!!).
Also, can we just talk about those stripes? And this trellis?! I feel like I’m living for this heavenly trellis light moment!!
We also asked our friendly landlord, Serge. Total Graphics I wish they would have window signage, I would love to see this giant sized version of our logo peeking out of the window of a pop up.
Another one of my favorites is this amazing display and shelving unit that FTB built for us, and you all helped create it! When asked which terracotta paint color to chooseWell Baked Clay was the clear winner, but I decided to use Spicy Hue on the inside of the shelving unit to create depth and visual interest. What do you think?
This pop-up space is reminiscent of the Brooklyn loft apartment I lived in in my 20s. It had a very open floor plan and not a lot of architectural details, so I thought it would be cool to design the bathroom on stilts and set it apart from the rest of the space with a vintage plaid floor.
this Kohler Artifact Bathtub My girlfriend with peach brows is having the best time right now!! I recently Cola Based in Wisconsin, I was very impressed with the beautiful and timeless designs and colors of their latest collection. Traditional colors have recently made a comeback.Spring Green & Peach Brow) ’s 150th anniversary, I came here for the vintage vibe.
This gorgeous Pedestal sink and faucet It’s a Kohler product and pairs well with the checkered floor. Space Desert WallpaperThe modern brushed brass of the faucet pairs beautifully with the gold accents in the wallpaper.
That’s right, girls!!! Show off those cute little feet! 😉
I might move!!!
I’ve been inspired by Art Deco details lately and have referenced them in many of my recent designs. This “step” detail in the bedroom area is one of my favorite design elements in this space. It creates a crown-like effect above the bed. Who doesn’t want to feel like a queen in their bedroom?
The lounge area is stocked with books, pillows, candles and more – a bright and cozy space where you can relax, get inspired (and pique your curiosity).
When we have guests over, everyone gathers in the kitchen, right? That’s what our bar area is like. People hang out here all the time. It’s the atmosphere! We Phoenix Naturale Wallpaper and FTB in this area built this bar from scratch!! We painted it kale green and bay leaf and it’s honestly super sexy!
We look forward to sharing this creative space with you this summer. Website or IG from now on Pop-up Events We’ll also let you know about promotions and opening times. We can’t wait to see you in person!
