“Would you please consider Monday’s update?” a reader named Molly commented last week. “This might be a nice addition to the ‘Have a Great Weekend’ post. I’m always curious about how the party went, what dress you picked, how the play or movie went, etc. I think it’s a fun way to start the week.”
What a lovely note! I also love hearing about other people’s weekend stories. If you feel like it, let’s have a chat. How was your weekend? Did you celebrate Thanksgiving? Are you watching any good shows or reading any good books? I’ll go first…

My dad came to visit (my sons were visiting Alex’s side of the family) and it felt so special to be able to spend some one-on-one time with them, something I haven’t had since before my sons were born. For Thanksgiving dinner, we drove up to spend time with Freddie’s family.

Along the way, I tried the New Yorker crossword puzzle…

…And I brought a bag full of snacks — fun puzzles Freddy’s younger sister, stylish hand wash for his mother, Italian wine for his father, best book This year I read a book for Freddie. I also wrapped presents. john derian wrapping paperit comes with a gift tag and is very luxurious.

The night was very nice. Freddie and I were going for a short walk before we all had dinner. Then we played foosball, fooled around with the kids, and ate some super delicious creamy green beans. I think it’s always fun and engaging to join other families for Thanksgiving because people have special recipes and traditions. Side note: Would you like to eat pumpkin pie all year round??

My aunts, Janie and Lulu, also sent photos of their celebrations in England. How cute is that? Are you interested in Janie’s beautiful uniform? (Lulu’s one was really fun to put together:)

When we got home, my dad and I watched reruns of Frasier as usual. My mother always says that Daphne reminds her of her own mother. My mother passed away when I was two years old, so I love watching this show and thinking about what kind of person she was.

My dad also balanced the tires on my car (which he didn’t know about) and helped me update the photo wall in the living room. Every few years, we try to exchange photos of our children at their current ages. That way, it won’t feel like a shrine to your toddler self.

One evening, we had some friends over for a casual snack, and our friend’s son showed us some magic tricks. Are grandparents cute?

Whenever I have a large gathering of people, I am reminded of Katherine Newman’s home tour. “My front porch is chaotic,” she says. “When I saw this poster I thought about it at a friend’s house. Oh yeah, this mess is a value, not a liability.”

Speaking of Katherine Newman, she gave it to her daughter of LL bean bag These monogram letters were written “just to make her laugh.” It made me laugh too!

Finally, after my dad went back to Michigan, I had a few hours to myself. john derian shop and admired the cake From Lucy. I’ve had some ups and downs in my life lately, so this weekend felt like a tonic. Now I can’t wait for my kids to come home. I’m always so happy when the chicks come back to the nest!

So, if you’d like, let me know about your weekend, the best, the worst, and anything else you’d like to share. As always, much love. Shit
