There is no better time than accepting happy hours at home than summer. When you can sweat just by thinking about turning on the oven, it’s time to enjoy the carefree atmosphere of the season. Would you like to host an improvised happy hour with your friends? If you don’t need cooking, you can focus on quickly assembling appetizers starring beautiful ingredients during the season and mixing up a refreshing cocktail. So let’s slide into our refreshing gauze and linen outfits and dive into this simple summer soiree. These are my best tips for hosting a simple and memorable happy hour at home.

How to Host Happy Hours at Home: Increase Your Snacks

When it comes to simple summer summer fun things, you want food that doubles in being simple and totally delicate. What is my favorite way to make that happen? Snacks for dinner. (Who needs a main course when you can indulge in a delicious spread of appetizers?) Grazing on some height snacks is not only tasty, but more fun.

I whipped these three no-cook appetizers within an hour and feel they will be your go-to snacks throughout the season.

Bitter greens, citrus fruits, prosciutto salad

Bitter greens, citrus fruits, prosciutto salad

This vibrant salad combines radicchio with juicy oranges and thinly sliced prosciutto. The bitterness of the greens is perfectly combined with the sweet, tangy flavor of the citrus fruit. The salty pistachio sprinkles and the thick shavings of Parmesan give it an Italian summer vibe. The final presentation is an east feast for the senses, and no one would speculate that it is one of the simplest summer salads.

Pro tips: Here’s how to get a gorgeous slice of citrus fruit without skin or pith:

  1. Take a sharp knife and cut off both ends of the fruit to create a flat surface.
  2. Stand the fruit upright on one of the flat edges.
  3. Starting from the top, carefully cut down below following the natural curve of the fruit, to remove the skin and pith of the section. Repeat this process around the fruit until all skins have been removed.
  4. Once the skin is removed, a colorful segment of the fruit will appear.
  5. Turn the fruit sideways and use a serrated knife to cut thin round slices and use to prepare salads, desserts or snacks.

Ricotta and plum bruschetta on serving board

Ricotta and plum bruschetta

This is one of the most beautiful toasts in my repertoire. A handful of ingredients bring together to create a stunning, delicious appetizer that doubles as a delicious vegetarian main course. This is how to make it.

In a bowl, toss together the green onions, plums, salt, pepper and olive oil. Spread the creamy ricotta cheese over toasted baguette or sourdough slices. Next, sprinkle with plum salsa and chopped mint leaves. The combination of creamy and sweetness creates the perfect bite. Perfect for summer!

Pro tips: Plums are one of the particularly good fruits when they are fully ripe. Here’s how to identify ripe plums while you’re doing grocery shopping:

  • color. Depending on the variety, ripe plums should have a rich and deep colour, whether red, purple or yellow. If there is still plenty of greenery near the stem, it will probably be ripe.
  • Texture. Ripe plums should be given slightly under mild pressure, just like ripe avocados. If it’s too difficult, you’re not ready yet. If it’s super soft and mushy, it’s too ripe!
  • scent. Ripe plums have a sweet, fragrant aroma near the stems. If you can’t smell too much, you may need another day or two to ripen.

Hummus with creudite and edible flowers

I know, I know: hummus with vegetable sticks is as basic as it gets. However, this recipe proves that all In a presentation! To make this hummus platter party worthy of, I started with a beautiful serving platter and got dramatic Swoosh There is hummus along the platter half.

I then topped it with a vibrant display of colorful crudites, including carrot sticks, cucumber slices, radish, and fennel. For the last summer touch I put in some edible flowers (these are Cheeve flowers, but you can also use nastoltium or pansies). The freshness of the vegetables combined with creamy hummus creates a delightful contrast between texture and flavor.

Pro tips: An unexpected way to level up your kurdite is to use a raw and roasted vegetable mix. Here, we used a mix of raw cucumbers, marine olives, roasted radish, carrots and fennel and looked delicious as tasted.
