How Does It Feel to Be a Sports Mom?

As a child, I was clearly indoors. But surprisingly, one of the greatest joys of my life has seen my boy fall in love with basketball, track and flag football. I’m 46 now and I’m proud to call myself a sports mom. I’m just as obsessed with warriors and nets as I do with my kids. Work together today Lululemon6 women share what it’s like to be a sports parent…

Your favorite Lululemon style

Sports your kids play: Basketball, flag football, truck, fishing.
What surprised you most since becoming a sports mom: I always thought soccer was very boring, but seeing Anton’s flag team makes my heart pound! I laughed at my friends about new discoveries, like, “Have you heard of soccer?”
Have you ever played sports with them: We often go to the park, play basketball (this is something I especially love) or throw soccer. Anton also created a strength training regimen that will be in the home of both of us. This is a really fun way to hang out.
Favorite Lululemon style to wear when playing with kids: Navy high rise joggers. They just have the right amount of slouch.

Sports your kids play: My eldest son ran across the country and tracks, and my young daughter played football.
What surprised you most since your kids started playing sports: Years later, they still feel delighted in their respective sports. I was worried they would burn out, but they never did. The first thing my eldest daughter did when she graduated from college was to look for a running group in Brooklyn. Instant community.
What do you like about the sports they play: Part of me can’t believe my girl can do these things with her own body. Every time my soccer player runs down the wings, or my cross country daughter grinds tough races, I think I’m amazed that she can do that.
My favorite Lululemon style to wear to my daughter’s game: The sparkle of leggings In the Navy. I wear it everywhere!

Sports your kids play: We haven’t signed up for them yet, but we spend the afternoon kicking a soccer ball around our backyard.
Did you play sports as a child: I played soccer and tennis. I still remember how intoxicated I felt, like mastering quick passes on the soccer field or hitting sharp serves on the tennis court. I want my children to experience the same pride.
Are you planning to sign your child: Our best friend has all her daughters in softball. She will be coaching the team this fall and will sign up for her daughter Ella. I’m excited!
Favourite Lululemon Style: I Live With these High-rise lining shorts. They are lightweight, airy and perfect for running or walking to the park.

Sports your kids play: My kids both play soccer.
What surprised you about becoming a sports mom: I didn’t like growing sports, but my 9 year old son Russ took me to professional soccer. When you start talking about the 2026 World Cup, your parents will be like, “Who are you?!” This is who I am now.
Are you playing sports now? A few years ago, I coached an indoor soccer team under the age of 8. My parents asked if I played soccer in college (!). I had to explain that I was Ted Lasso the whole situation.
Advice for parents interested in signing sports leagues for their children: Approach with curiosity.
Your favorite Lululemon style to wear when participating in sports games: I really like the fit and feel These boat neck tops.

Sports your kids play: My boys are kids from individual sports such as skateboarding, skiing, climbing, cycling, running. My daughter plays club soccer and Rec basketball.
What surprised you since signing up for sports: I knew my daughter would make friends, but I didn’t expect to make great friends with fellow parents!
Which sports have you grown: I played team sports from my young age to college, and it was one of the greatest joys of my life. My mother passed away just before going to university. So I promised to play lacrosse. At first, I was so sad that I wasn’t sure I could follow up physically or mentally. But I did it and I’m sure it saved me.
What sports are you playing now: I’ve been running a half marathon in a few weeks (I have a lot of soccer mom friends!) and will be running the NYC marathon again this fall.
Favorite Lululemon Style to wear for a long time: I wore these High-rise leggings My last two NYC marathons. I like the easy access pocket on the side of my phone, and the back pocket is perfect for chapsticks and fuel gel.

What sports does your child play: My kids are a very anti-team sport, but very active. They love cyclin groups in Prospect Park, roller skating and ice skating.
Why don’t they like team sports and how did you approach it: My daughter is a perfectionist and I don’t want to disappoint others. I want her to try out team sports, but I’m making her take the lead.
Do you play sports: Tennis is my favorite. I love the combination of movement and strategy. Also, my kids became fans with me. We have been to the US for the past two years and my daughter worships Coco Gough.
My favorite Lululemon Gear to wear when playing tennis: this High-rising pleated tennis skirtit fits very well for short people. He also won a single match when he first wore it. Do I dare say it’s fortunate?

Some Lululemon styles we love…
