handmade advent calendar
When we were kids, we loved the tradition of advent calendars, counting down the days until Christmas. Today I’ll show you how I made a reusable advent calendar for my kids.
advent stuffing ideas
very similar stocking stufferswe like to pack different candies, small toys and trinkets, and activity ideas into different appearances.
candy – For Advent, I like to buy two bags of pre-wrapped holiday candy and spread them out randomly throughout the month. We recommend purchasing one bag of chocolate candies and one bag of gummy candies.
toys and trinkets – Try out a new toothbrush, matchbox car, Lego character, or bookmark. Perfect as a gift.
Printing the activity – Create a fun to-do sheet and plan fun activities for the weekend, such as watching a holiday movie, taking a drive to see the house lights, or visiting the store to buy gifts for friends and family. I’ll pack it.
It took about a week to complete the advent calendar. If you want to save a lot of time, ready made mini stockings.
Instructions
Let’s talk about DIY steps. This is easy. There’s nothing you can’t tell just from the pictures, but I’ll walk you through every step in case you want to know how I actually did it.
1. First, cut out 24 stockings. I felt it. I mainly used felt that I already had, so it’s a mix of high and low quality (and I’m okay with that!). I made some patterns to make the stocking shapes and used them to cut out all the stockings.
I didn’t want them to be exactly the same shape or size, but you can do that if you want a more unified look. Then decorate the top of each stocking with hand embroidery or glue on the stocking.
2. Machine or hand sew each stocking. Next, add a loop of felt or thread (for hanging the stockings) to the top of each stocking.
3. Paint small wood star White and drilled or punched holes. use. stamp set Add numbers from 1 to 24.
4. Attach stars to the stockings with string.
5. Use wooden sticks, string, thread, etc. wood beads Create a hanging structure. Below you can see that my stockings are permanently attached to the rod, but you can tie them instead if you want to remove them every day.
Bonus step: After it was finished, I wanted to add a little more detail, so I hung a bunch of large wooden stars on the rod.
6. Stuff your stockings with the following items: candy, small toysThere are also notes with fun activities like movies to see, crafts to do, and special places to go each day.
Note: If you don’t have time to make your own this year, here are some. Lots of cute felt calendars There you can Just buy the mini stocking part Go from there to save some time.
