Morning ritual to set tone
Improved morning and evening routine
I always call myself a morning person, but after summer trips and late nights I snooze more than I want to admit. For me, autumn is the ultimate reset (Amazing Rock Inn It makes you feel like you’re watching). So this season, I aim to sleep naturally. It’s like creating a nighttime ritual that actually supports rest and carves out an AM routine that feels both grounded and exciting. Think about it: a workout, a quiet time with my books and tea, and a breakfast that is as beautiful as nutrition. -Isabelle Eyman, editorial strategist
A chilly morning walk
When the air is very crisp and chilly, there’s nothing I like more than going on in early autumn here in Chicago. It’s an exhilarating beginning of a day that ensures I maintain my exercise habits, even when it gets cold in the Midwest. It’s also a bit of a ritual during this time of year to close out a walk around the lakeside, bundled with delicious coffee treats. -Suruchi Avasthi, Food Editor
Ice rolls in AM
I love starting my mornings with an ice roller. It instantly blows my face, boosts circulation and helps me wake up and feel energized. The cool feeling is very refreshing, preparing my skin for the rest of the routine, making it fresh and smooth for the day. – Tatom Hoffmann, Marketing Intern
The nourishing night breeze blows away
Evening Bus
The evening bath at the end of a long day is one of my favorites in the world. My family knows that when I close the bathroom door it’s my quiet time. I dim the lights, light candles, pour some Epsom salt For hot running water. (Pro tip: You’ll get cheaper Epsom salts because you need to use as much as 1-2 cups.) Then wear a face mask, read a book, listen to a podcast, lie down your head behind you and close your eyes. After it dries, I applied head to toe of nourishing body oil. – Kamille Style, Editor-in-Chief
Aromatherapeutic Oil Cleansing
I like to switch between my beauty routines every season. Summer minimalist. Winter maximalist. When I feel comfortable in autumn, I long for a luxurious and nourishing ritual. I always add this monastery cleansing oil to my double cleansing routine. It’s a rich oil that gently washes away the day (and make-up too!), deep nourishes my skin and prepares for my skincare routine. But more than that, it smells incredible. When I wake up and get home, I look forward to the aromatherapy benefits of breathing in the rich aroma of roses. – Langatinyoka, Beauty Editor
Seasonal food and drink ritual
Pumpkin spices for my morning coffee
Cinnamon powder is an important ingredient in my morning coffee all year round, but pumpkin spices are my favorite seasonal swap. The little sprinkles come a long way, bursting with nostalgia. It could be a small ritual, but it gives me something cozy to look forward to every morning! – Bridget Chambers, Fashion Editor
Healthy Sunday Night Dinner
I love cooking healthy dinners on Sunday nights and bring lots of leftovers to the week. This is usually roasted, warm and headed towards the vegetables. Some of my Sunday night favourites:
- Sweet potato black bean chili. The ultimate cozy stew filled with plant-based proteins.
- Simple zucchini pasta. It makes the most of the farmers’ market and features caramelized zucchini, parmesan and plenty of lemons.
- Chicken tortilla soup. Our whole family is obsessed with this. Make a big pot, serve all the toppings and make everyone wild. – Kamille Style, Editor-in-Chief
Movement and physical practice
Infrared sauna
After spending all of the summer in the sauna forever, my favorite fall wellness activity is in the infrared sauna for 45-60 minutes. I put my phone outside, my legs up against the wall, I lose myself with a good book and a puddle of sweat. It’s the perfect reprieve from the cool weather and makes me feel refreshed and rejuvenated each time. All the showers continue and there is no better way to spend an autumn night. – Bridget Chambers, Fashion Editor
30 minutes walk every day
My autumn movement routine revolves around the simplicity of daily walking and my mind wandering. There’s a whisper of chills coming into the Texas air and I feel the switch inwards towards something a little softer than my intense training routine. The first 10 minutes of my walk are for prayers, the rest is a little conversation and an “interview” with me. On my walk yesterday, I asked myself what I would do on my dream day. This morning I implemented three of them. Walks, internal chats, and more intentional collapses go ahead. – Brittany Chatburn, Director of Content Marketing
Mindset shift and seasonal reflections
Getting appreciation intentionally
Fall always felt like a reflective season for me, and honestly, being grateful and intentional was such a game changer. It helps to balance the small slump I feel when the sun starts setting too early. Sometimes I write down three things before going to bed. Other nights I do some simple meditations and use journal prompts. It depends on my mood. It’s a very simple way to feel more grounded without thinking about it too much. – Anna Decker, Social Media and E-commerce Manager
Morning reflection Daily Stoic and Manifesto: 7 steps to live your best life
I swear it’s like clockwork every September. As my boys return to school and the pace of life changes, I love grounding myself to the ritual that sets the tone of clarity and intention rear I’ll take them down. Our early mornings are busy, but after drop off I quickly go home to breakfast, make two cups of coffee and read the passage from Daily Stoic. I also read a few pages Manifesto. Together, they encourage me to spend the day with purpose and presence. Slowing down and nourishing my mind in the seasons that often feel rushed is a gentle reminder. – Wellness Editor Eddie Holstman
