Cherry Syrup – A Beautiful Mess
SHARE

This cherry syrup recipe can be easily made with just two ingredients and water. This is a cherry simple syrup recipe, so it’s a thin syrup to add to your drink, cocktail, latte or my favorite diet cola. lol.

Love the rich flavor of the cherries and make your own homemade syrup from fresh cherries is the best! Store-bought cherry syrup is not a very job either, but it tastes like a medicine, can taste too much, or too sweet for me. Homemade is worth it and is very easy.

Cherry Syrup – A Beautiful Mess

material

  • Cherries – Fresh or frozen freeze works well
  • Granular white sugar
  • water

I’m looking for fresh cherries, as in the produce section. You may also find them frozen. Do not use maraschino cherry (jarred) in this recipe.

How to make cherry syrup

Remove the stems and cut the cherry in half.

Combine sugar and water in a small to medium pot. Beat until the sugar is dissolved. Add the cherry to the mixture. Bring it to a boil. Next, reduce the heat to simmer (low) and continue cooking for 10 minutes.

Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool. The cherry is rugged and continues to release the flavor.

Pour the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a spout and glass mixing cup. Using a spoon, freshen the cherry into a sieve and remove as much liquid as possible.

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. If you want to use cherry syrup for longer, you can freeze it in ice cubes and use it if you want.

Tips, notes, alternatives

  • If you are using thawing frozen cherries before following this recipe.
  • There is no need to remove the pit. However, if you want to remove the pit, you can use leftovers like jam or ice cream compote. If you leave a pit there it will not affect your syrup, but you will want to throw away the body after being tense.
  • This cherry syrup recipe is very simple and delicious. But if you want to deepen or change the added flavor a little, it’s vanilla extract, fresh herbs like mint or rosemary, citrus peels like oranges and lemons, or simply a large pinch of sea salt. Add these to the cooking process so that you will bear the solids along with the cherry fruit/pit.
  • You can also exchange some or all of the granulated white sugar for brown sugar for another flavor. Or replace the demerara sugar with the syrup for a slightly different texture.

FAQ

Is cherry syrup the same as grenadine syrup?

No, Grenadine syrup is made from pomegranate. But even though it doesn’t taste exactly the same, it can make a good alternative.
