Caprese Skewers are a delicious and easy to make appetizer made with fresh mozzarella balls, tomatoes, and basil leaves. This Caprese is the perfect appetizer for your next get-together, such as a holiday party.

Creamy mozzarella, fresh basil, and the flavors of balsamic vinegar make this bite-sized appetizer the best. Mini Caprese Skewers are a variation on the classic Caprese salad appetizer.

Other snack ideas: Your favorite holiday appetizers, guacamole, queso, and cocktail sauce.

Caprese Skewers – A Beautiful Mess

  • Mozzarella balls – I used mini mozzarella balls or chilesine mozzarella (grape tomatoes or cherry tomatoes) You can also chop fresh mozzarella cheese into small cubes if you can’t get it at your grocery store.
  • Cherry Tomato – Choose red tomatoes or a variety of colorful small tomatoes.
  • basil – Fresh basil leaves are essential for this recipe.
  • Flake Salt – Some Maldon sea salt Scattered on top, this recipe really shines.
  • olive oil – Extra virgin olive oil can be used as a topping of your choice.
  • Balsamic Glaze – An optional ingredient to garnish the dressing. This will add a sweetness to the recipe.

Instructions

First, gather your ingredients: Layer the tomatoes, folded basil leaves, and mozzarella balls onto a skewer.

Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic reduction and sprinkle sea salt on the skewers.

Serve Caprese Salad Skewers immediately, or if making them for a party, make them the day of and store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
