If someone asks me, “Would you rather have a high coverage foundation or a lightweight BB cream?” I would ditch the foundation any day! Unlike the heavy, classic formulas of medium to high coverage foundations, BB creams (aka beauty balms) apply a nourishing layer of moisturizing and sun-protecting ingredients to the skin. And as you’ve probably already guessed, today I’m reviewing an amazing skin-smoothing balm from Korean beauty brand Elizavecca.

Elizavecca BB cream* is part of the quirkily named Milky Piggy iconic skincare line, known for its deeply hydrating ingredients, lightweight texture, and innovative approach to skincare. In addition to moisturizing, Milky Piggy BB Cream promises brightening/anti-wrinkle benefits with powerful SPF50+ sun protection (an awesome perk!).
From reading this brief description, it sounds like an all-in-one solution for all your skincare and makeup needs, but is it really?

Let’s meet the communists and the most commonly used cosmetic container – the tube. Tubes are a good old way to store skin creams and serums. The tube has a perfect summer look, with bright greens and reds reminiscent of juicy watermelons and an image of a cool little piggy with a stylish scarf around its neck.
Texture and aroma:
A smooth, silky texture is the most important feature of a quality BB cream, and Elizavecca Milky Piggy is light, supple and melts on the skin.
Unfortunately, this color only comes in a grayish light beige all-purpose color. I don’t think this color will flatter all of the competing colors, but it will work for people with pale skin and neutral to cool skin tones. When I saw the sample on Elizavecca’s website, I thought it would be too light for my skin, but it blended out without any discomfort. And lo and behold, this color is amazing! It doubles as a primer. It hides all the enlarged pores and discoloration. It’s so amazing. Once it settles in, it gives your skin a healthy glow without the need for powder.
Of course, scent is also an important factor. If you are a skincare and makeup enthusiast, you would never put a bad-smelling cream on your face (unless it guarantees a flawless finish). And of course, the standout feature of this BB cream with SPF 50+ is its soft, almost undetectable scent. Once applied to the skin, the scent disappears completely.

Just after glycerin on the ingredients list, I found ethylhexyl salicylate, an organic compound often used in skin care to absorb UVB rays. Elizavecca claims that Milky Piggy BB Cream contains SPF 50, one of the ingredients associated with sun protection.
Elizavecca BB Cream is formulated with moisturizing and softening ingredients. It contains butylene glycol (a type of organic alcohol), a popular ingredient that soothes the skin and boosts hydration. Korean beauty brands love this moisturizer, and it’s often found in their creams and lotions.
How do I apply Elizavecca BB Cream to achieve a smooth, natural finish?
Of course, nothing beats a beauty balm for a natural yet smooth complexion. However, the final result depends on how you prep and prime your skin before application. You can skip the pre-application step, but it may compromise the longevity of the airbrushed finish. Here are some reasons why I love Elizavecca Milky Piggy BB Cream.
Step 1: Skin Care
If you exfoliated, cleansed, and moisturized your skin the night before, congratulations! You’re one step closer to glass skin and the perfect BB look! If not, don’t forget to exfoliate your face and neck (I prefer an acid peel, aka chemical peel) and apply your favorite toner and moisturizer, which will leave your skin nourished and rejuvenated overnight.
Step 2: Moisturize
Step 3: Smooth application
Start applying BB cream in the center of your face (nose, under eyes, chin) and smooth carefully down to your cheeks, forehead and neck. This way you apply only the amount of creamy texture you need without overdoing it on your skin. A key tip here is to work on your pores and wrinkles. I like to apply BB cream on my cheeks and nose where I have enlarged pores to smooth out streaks when they get clogged. Apply more cream or concealer for extra coverage if needed.
Step 4: Mix and grind
Then spread it all evenly with a damp beauty blender and add powder to any oily areas. If it’s not a hot and humid day, or your skin is especially dry, skip the powder step. And you’re done! Your skin will glow and your complexion will look even.
I applied two coats of Elizavecca Milky Piggy BB Cream followed by a light layer of powder.
Final Verdict…
I haven’t reviewed a makeup product in ages, so reviewing Elizavecca Milky Piggy BB Cream was a very nostalgic experience for me. Nostalgic in a positive way, of course. If you love K-Beauty products, nourishing/hydrating formulas, and lightweight textures, this BB Cream is the perfect summer must-have. Why not? It’s packed with everything you need for summer makeup. SPF 50+? Check! Panthenol? Check! Anti-aging Niacinamide? Yes, of course!
On the other hand, this BB cream only comes in one shade, which may not suit everyone. Also, it may look a little unnatural on some skin tones, even if you have a similar skin tone. When it comes to buildability, Elizavecca BB cream also excels. I think this is one of the best beauty balms I have ever tried. I am very happy with the results.
