What are the summer checklists? Here are 10 modest things I’m thinking of doing (and I’d like to hear about you)…

1. Lean over your drink. When visiting relatives in the UK, we always meet up with friends, neighbors and others for a “drink” at 6pm. Back in Brooklyn, my kids and I often head to us at that time as a way to make summer evenings colder from work day to summer. I’ve been fond of sipping sprites these days Lingonberrybut even sparkling water does the trick.

2. Lie on the sofa and read the magazine It has a fan. especially New Yorker’s short storyit’s interesting, touching, and spooooooky.

3. Play the card outside. Our beloved Koji contributor, Alex Ronan, played the malicious and maliciousness of the card game with her girlfriend, The Infinity Times, she told me. “I can’t describe the number of rounds I played on a trip, bar or coffee on a Sunday morning, but I don’t think I’ll get bored of it. I feel the cadence of every game is different. It’s a perfect two-player game.” Freddie And I’m meeting Alex and Grace to actually learn the game – we report.

4. Take photos of your kids with friends. Above is my friend Claire with my daughter at Toby’s baseball game. Mama in the photo, always and forever 🙂
5. Check out the films from the 90s. We love to see 90s movies on a trip. They are fun and familiar, so you can chat and have snacks while watching. Some to get you started: the talented Mr. Ripley, Ignorance, Fargo, Boys n The Hood, The Hood, The Fugitive, and Goodfellas.

6. Eat potato chips from a mug. This is a great idea from my brother, so the people around you won’t steal your chips. Otherwise, despicable hands will come from all directions.
7. Write acrostic poems for your loved ones. Well, this may sound random, but ask me, haha. My friend Liz once wrote for us for us when we went to dinner, but I never forgot how beautiful it was. Such a simple and personal gesture. I wrote this year on Freddie’s birthday and it was fun to include internal jokes and nicknames. They shouldn’t be perfect, just heartfelt 🙂

8. See the art of real lifeIf you feel very touched, Amy Shellard of Whitney (Come to DC September) or Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. The colour works well.

9. Enjoy the soft servevanilla – like a chocolate twist.
10. Stay inside and don’t feel sick. As someone who is anxious to always be unable to turn off their brains, this is my favorite. My friend Sharon uses the term “catch-up day” where everyone in the family needs a break, so you stay inside and do nothing. Maybe you’ll eat a bowl of cereal? Take a cold shower and see how many seconds you last? It goes against the rules, so don’t do anything productive.
What are on the summer list? I want to hear it. And here is the best parenting advice I’ve ever received.
