Last week, our team took a trip to Seattle. Oh, what a beautiful place! Water! Pine trees! Coffee! Here are a few pictures, so please take a look.
First, Janelle Sanchez, Maureen Heffernan, Caitlin Tear and I met with the poets. Kate Bear In Seattle Big Salad EventKate’s poetry always made us laugh and cry (“I’m a cool poet,” she joked during our conversation), and we had so much fun hanging out together, eating smoked fish dip, discussing reality TV, and trying on lipsticks at Sephora.
On the first night, Harry’s Fine Foods…
…and their guest house Next door. How gorgeous is this bedroom with all the matching fabrics?
My bedroom had a huge bathtub…
…and this tug hook (probably Nicky KehoeWhen we first arrived, I said, “I love looking at the little things,” and Caitlin said, “Yeah! Let’s look at every nook and cranny!” It was so much fun.
One of the owners Julian — Stopped by in the evening with some wine. How sweet.
On the second day, Big Salad EventKate and I talked about everything from parenting advice to orgasms to female friendships. Live recording here(Anyone who would like to attend is welcome to attend for free.) I really enjoyed spending time with friends and readers there. In-person events always leave me feeling very emotional.
The other news is that my dress matched the bathroom!
The next day, we went on an adventure to the San Juan Islands as a team. We took a seaplane ride, and we were all scared…
But once we were in the air, the flight felt dreamy and otherworldly: we saw whales and Caitlin cried.
About 45 minutes later we landed at Port Roche.
It’s a very mysterious place. Have you ever been there? Do you go there often?
Our Marketing Director, Maureen, whose family has lived in Seattle for five generations, was accompanied by her father, who took us on a boat ride and told us stories of Seattle’s history, interspersed with fatherly lines like, “Is it a little cold? Oh well.”
Our editors are Caitlinabove — We live on the West Coast, so it’s always a treat to see each other in person.
And it’s great Janelle.
The air smelled of pine and seaweed, and I could hear the sounds of water and birds all around me.
Finally, when we got back to Seattle, we found a boat with a hot tub on the lake. How fun! (The boys will be so happy!) We fell in love with Seattle and we are so grateful to this wonderful city for giving us such a wonderful stay.
Have you been to Seattle? Do you live there? Let us know!
