Last month, I got emotional as three women spoke to me about changing jobs…

Each office is decorated with childhood photos. What is the reason behind this great decision? Every time I look up and see my younger self in all the glory of girlhood, with my rosy cheeks, my cheesy smile, and my sparkling eyes, I know that part of myself that deserves the best. I remember. Grace in times of failure. Perseverance in moments of frustration. Above all, gentle encouragement. And here’s my favorite part – they try to treat their problems the current With all my tender love.

When I asked Peyton how she came up with this idea, her answer surprised me. various funny picturesAnd I said, “When you’re being mean to me, this is the person you’re being mean to.” At first I laughed, but then I thought about it seriously and wrote the words on a sticky note and pasted it under my photo. ”

Why you need to display your childhood photos in your office

Illustrator Jordan Sondler says she keeps her career mission in mind by keeping a photo of herself as a preteen (above) in her apartment. “My biggest dream is to create art and work to help kids who are scared and depressed like I was,” she said.

Why you should display your childhood photo in your office

lastly, gabriella lewellynThe author and mother of three says the collages of her childhood photos on display remind her why she takes time for her hobbies. Because her hobbies bring her joy. “I sew, read, and garden not because I want to be the world’s greatest sewer or read 45 books a year. I do these things to keep my child alive and happy. I do these things to make her proud.”

After speaking with three women, I decided to try this approach myself and made this photo my phone’s screensaver.

Little me with my grandpa and younger brother.

For the first few days, every time I looked at my phone (I hate to admit this), the feeling that washed over me was shame. What type of people use their own photos as screensavers? I think so. This should be a picture of my children, not me.

But over time, when I looked down at my phone and saw little Janelle in a red beret and pleated skirt, I smiled. The other day I even imagined how loved and safe I must have felt in that moment. She deserves to feel loved and safe.I thought. And it happened very naturally. My thoughts after that are I still deserve to feel loved and safe. Such an obvious statement. But I realized that sometimes I need help remembering one thing. That’s why I decided to bring my childhood photos to the forefront.
