What are your hopes and dreams for autumn? Mine is: a) you can eat all the pumpkins, bats and ghosts on your wreath, and b) consume great movies, books and more that come out in the fall. If you feel the same, here is a juicy list of fun things to read, watch, cook, and wear (and I’d love to hear your recs!)…

movie: Left-handed girl Filmed on a 4K iPhone camera (!), such grit reflects the film itself. This story involves a Chinese woman and her two daughters moving to Taipei to open a night market stall, and having a hard time interacting and squeezing into a small flat. In a stunning scene of urban life, the film depicts a gentle, complicated relationship between a mother and daughter. I can’t wait to see it.

The face of British actor Josh O’Connor somehow can show 100 expressions at the same time. So I was excited to see him play lead The mastermind (October 17th). The film follows JB Mooney, the father of a Shrumpy unemployed in the ’70s. What’s not going well?

Love is blind France

tv set: I see my current guilty pleasure Love is blind Observe cultural differences from different countries. It’s called Anthropologyeveryone. For example, when American couples first meet each other, women usually run to men and get dizzy. In France, they usually lock their eyes, approach each other, and start kissing silently. In the Swedish version, people tend to be duller – as when one woman asked her fiancé, “Did you talk to your mom about me on the phone?” And he calmly replied, “No,” not knowing whether these norms are broadly true or with people who appear on reality TV, but it’s still fun to watch. Special thanks Freddie Being a generous listener while talking about this nonstop at dinner last Friday.

Girlfriend TV show

I’m always excited about a good psychological thriller – think about it: Ripley is the talented, Parasites – Therefore, the assumption of Girlfriend I jumped straight away. When Laura (Robin Wright), the owner of the gallery, meets her son’s new girlfriend (Olivia Cook), she fears that she is a manipulative social climber, but is she just a paranoid? Who can you trust? Elle I say it’s a “must see” Guardian They call it “a sexy Oddie Pulse Liller” and “a brilliantly slippery beast of drama.” (clock Trailer here,as needed. )

Memoirs of the Neighbors

Book: Book: Gabriel Hamilton’s first memoir – Blood, bones, butter – described by Anthony Bourdain as “the best memoir by a chef to date.” Somehow I missed it, but her second memoir, Neighbors (October 14th) put me on my knees this month. While caring for her sick mother, which she had been estranged for decades, Gabriel reflects on the family she grew up in. Like family, memoirs are, in turn, cheerful, electrical, unscratched and devastating. A few lines I flagged: “He goes into the hot water all over town, but as one of the adults says, leave immediately. He can charm mice from cheesecake. “My mother loved introducing herself at dinner parties to quip “If you don’t say anything about someone, sit next to me!” “What’s so crowded is my own mind, with loose questions piling up over other questions that certain doors can’t even open all the time. ”

Also, a list of all the fall books I’ve read so far wilderness An novel by Angela Fullnoy that follows five female friends over 20 years. From their 20s to 40s, they navigate careers, marriage, motherhood, urban life, aka “The Wilderness.” Can someone be involved?

A little more future books: The heart of a lover Lily King, Sonia and Sunny’s loneliness Kiran Desai, and Shipwreck By our beloved Catherine Newman.

food: My boy is finally old enough to eat soup! I don’t know what they’ve been against up until now, but as long as the unfriendly baguettes are on the table, they’re a game for what’s in the bowl. Saminnosrat Corn Soup It’s tasty and our old favorite Zucchini soup recipe And it’s topped with my friend’s topping soup. Apart from that, is there a pumpkin recipe you swear by? All ears.

Ros Milk Hair Serum

Beauty: At 46, I finally I found my hairwhich means packing my blow dryer and straightener, and instead simply dry the air dry with some excellent products. roz milk hair serum My latest discovery – you’re a bit smooth and even on damp and rainy days will make your hair smooth and silky refined. Your hair also smells clean and fresh all day long, just like you’ve just left the shower. I continue to rave about it, and now I’m also hooked on a bunch of my friends. Bonus for All Readers: Rōz offers 15% off all (excluding bundles) using Code Coj15 until September 30th.

jcrew cashmere sweater

style: Finally, do you have a piece you’ve worn many times that makes you feel like a part of your life? I’m wearing it My J.Crew Cashmere sweater A thousand times over the years. It is very soft and works all year round, jeans, pants, skirts, everything. This is relaxing It’s also easy and beautiful – chic like a sweater, and as easy as a sweatshirt. And of course, the biggest trend right now: red flat, these and these.

What would you add? What are you watching, reading, wearing, eating? And Shanatova is for those who celebrate!
