I chatted with interior designer Karen Wolf K+Co LivingAndi Morse of Morse Designand Jenna Morrow Morrow Design Studios To reach lowering with a refreshing spring home design. Read our expert tips on how to breathe new life into your space this season.
They embrace the aesthetics of coastal grandmas
In 2022, the aesthetics of coastal grandmas exploded into the scene. Rex Nicoleta I created the phrase Tiktok, and the love of coastal style, like the simple wind, is still strong. “I love the aesthetics of coastal grandmas,” Wolf says. “Even though I’m not my grandmother myself or I live on the water, I prefer a relaxed, soft muted palette with a mix of woven textures and natural materials.”
Try it yourself: To complete the aesthetic this spring, exchange the dark colors for soft blue and neutral, add a resin or icker accent, and place a large vase of white acer on your kitchen table for the ultimate, and place it for the ultimate You have to give something atmosphere. Diane Keaton is, after all, the inspo behind the movement. Renovate your space for spring and your coastal grandma’s home will be ready by summer!
They add a scent
To completely shift the atmosphere of the space, use scents and make them perfect as the seasons change. “I like to add a fresh room diffuser to refresh the bathroom,” says Morse. “I tend to blow away what looks like a sculpture.
Try it yourself: There are various plug-in diffusers, reed diffusers and candles that can be sprinkled over the entire space. Adding a spring fragrance will make your spring home design more sophisticated. Think about how you and your guests will experience each room when you decide on the scent of your home. Pay close attention to how each scent makes you feel. Are you relaxing? Energy? happy? Choose accordingly and enjoy.
They’re deep cleaning
Even for professionals, spring is not spring without deep, beautiful things. Wolf offers useful ideas to choose from when organizing and working on your home cleaning project. “Outside of normal tidying, I think of myself moving my home from cleaning windows, vents, lighting and paint,” she shares.
Try it yourself: Take the time to clean spots that are not available for daily or monthly care. Follow the wolf’s suggestions and look at your home with fresh eyes. If you’ve never stepped into this house before, what would you notice? When you plan your spring home project, inspire it to you.
They’re updating their decorations
You may find that you need to update some items in your home as you clean your life. This is everything about Spring Home Design. It’s a refreshed space. Wolf is looking for a simple, quick decoration fix that won’t break the bank in his own home. “Fast fixes to decor include fresh pillows, throws, bedding and kitchen island paintovers. Changing all bulbs to a consistent LED color temperature can also help,” she said.
Moreau agrees. “I like to refresh the accents during the spring season and give my home a new look,” she says. “A slow pillowcase that moves from dark and moody shades like emerald green to bright, soft pastels is one way I like to change.”
Try it yourself: Be careful if any of the throws are a little bad due to wear or if the pillow loses shape. By investing in updated linens, you will keep things fresh and cozy, and introduce bright shades that are suitable for warm weather. Paint touch-ups are also quick and easy fixes that have a big impact on your home and nervous system. In your eyes, no more tip paint is easy. And if there are decorations you’ve been paying attention to, don’t be afraid to deal with this spring!
They buy fresh sheets
Isn’t changing bedding during the season a fun little joy? Spring bedding is well-ventilated and light, and Morse revives the bedroom with new sheets every year. “I like to buy a pair of fresh sheets for my bed because bedding requires a lot of wear,” she shares.
Try it yourself: While digging through the linen closet, Morse suggests getting tidy as you go. “And I like to organize my bedding, remove anything that’s no longer in a big shape, and buy a completely new set for next year,” she continues.
They organize the cabinets
“Two areas that tend to refresh at home each spring are the kitchen and bathroom,” says Morse. “First of all, I like to organize and clean the pantry and all the cabinets, and I like to do the same for the bathroom.”
Try it yourself: Spring cleaning has received a lot of hype this season, but especially in the kitchen and bathroom, where the organisation and arrangements become deep clean, as Morse says. Take everything out of your pantry or cabinet this season, throw old and expired items, and organize all your items you keep. It’s best to do one cabinet at a time, so it won’t be overwhelmed. A great design is what happens not only in front of you, but also in closed rooms.
They incorporate floral patterns
If you have time to sprinkle fresh bouquets at home, now is the time. Flowers, whether genuine or fake, quickly add beauty. “I like to incorporate oversized faux spring florals like cherry blossoms and lilac,” says Moreau. Moreau himself has a large vase of white cherry blossoms in his home office. The big fake florals add a layer of softness to her space and they are fake so she doesn’t have to worry about watering them.
Try it yourself: If you’re lucky enough to have flowering branches in your backyard, pruning your trees and bringing them with them is a great way to incorporate the real thing at an affordable price. If not, it’s nice to browse the trader Joe’s flower aisle, especially as the grocery stores offer a wide range of affordable flowers, branches and greenery.
