“Where did you get that rug?” is one of the questions I asked most often. The rug was the first big buying ornament I began collecting when I moved to my first apartment. Below I find places to browse and buy my favourite locations (the former is almost always). There are a variety of brands, prices and styles represented below for several reasons.
Even if you plan to buy more budget-friendly rugs, I still recommend browsing brands with rugs at all prices. In my experience, getting familiar with the things available in different designers and different shops is one of the best ways to know your style. I have discovered that exposing myself to unique and interesting pieces will help me learn to easily select great pieces in stores with lower prices, even if they are out of my price range.
This is where I buy my favorite rug right now.
1. Lulu & Georgia

What do I love Lulu & Georgia We are collaborating on rugs. Sarah Shaman Samuel Collection It’s iconic! In addition to the checkerboard rugs in our current home, we had one of the rugs from this collection in the main bedroom of our previous home and loved it.
2. Chairman

Chairman It’s a place I love browsing rug styles, despite mostly out of my price range. In rare cases, I make a lowball offer – I even said an offer that was accepted before (as with the vintage rugs in the entrance, the vintage rugs in the family room are from the chairperson)! They still sacrifice their arms and legs, but they are forever fragments of a reputable site. The Chairman’s return policy is very strict so if you buy it here and don’t like it, you only have 48 hours to submit a return.
3. Loloi

Roroy Amazing source of budget-friendly, child-friendly (or pet-friendly!) rugs. Regardless of your personal design preference, they carry the rug in so many luxurious styles. We used them in areas where kids and dogs know they can play hard or spill.
4. Annie Selke
Annie Selke Carry ultra-high quality rugs for modern and traditional spaces. I love the punchy colors and graphic prints. We got it Annie Selke Runner (Photo above) For our basement kitchen, and combined some rugs runner For the basement stairs. We had this too Mini Check Rug For many years at our home.
5. eBay

I love eBay You can find out whether you are patient or willing to negotiate for great deals. I bought a Swedish Kilim Runner from eBay for the hallway to our bedroom (pictured above).
6. ecarpetgallery

ecarpetgallery A great source of vintage rugs. There are rugs from this store in Joe’s office and my office/library. This is my first stop to see if the styles I found on sites with more expensive pieces are available at a lower price. This place is worth keeping your radar as they frequently update their inventory and have sales throughout the year.
7. Nordic Knot

Scandinavian knot Carries solid lugs and graphic patterns made in relatively small batches. Here are two rugs Red rug Dining room (pictured at the top of this post) and Cream rug Main bedroom (pictured above). One thing to expect is that these rugs tend to fall out for the first few months, so you may need to consider additional vacuum cleaners.
