After more than a year of activity Cezanne And since I wear their pieces (almost) every day, I wanted to round up the best (i.e. most versatile, most worn, highest quality) pieces I’ve had the pleasure of adding to my closet so far. Looking back at this list, I realize that each silhouette is unique to Sézane and you won’t find anything similar on sites like J.Crew, Madewell, or anything else. There’s a reason these silhouettes sell out so many times. Today, in no particular order, I present to you the wardrobe staples I would purchase from Sézane if I were to build my closet from scratch.
Here are some of my favorite staples I received from Sézane this year.
1. Betty Cardigan
$170
Crafted from merino wool, the Betty Cardigan is perfect for winter. Stylish crochet finishes along the collar, pockets and cuffs add texture to your outfit, making it perfect for any occasion, from work to weekend plans. This timeless piece can be worn with anything from jeans to skirts for a versatile look.
Fit Notes: It runs a little small, consider ordering a size up.
2. Jack Trousers
$170
I’m apple-shaped and have mostly avoided paper-bag pants because they’ve never really looked good on me. But not these pants. They fit amazingly well, are very figure-flattering, and are super comfortable.
Fit Notes: The size fits true to size, but if you are under 5’7″ you may need to have the hems altered.
3. Emile Cardigan
$170
The Emile Cardigan is perfect. You can wear it buttoned up or down. The lightweight alpaca and wool blend will keep you warm on chilly days, and the puffy sleeves create a fun silhouette. It looks great with jeans and a t-shirt, or a feminine skirt and blouse.
Fit Notes: The size is perfect, but it does run a little large, so if you’re between sizes, choose the next size down.
4. Louise Jumper
$145
The Louise Jumper is a wardrobe staple that’s a must-have. This super kid mohair jumper features long sleeves, a round neckline and button plackets at the cuffs. Pair it with high-waisted jeans and boots for a classic look or a mini skirt and heels for a sophisticated look. We also love wearing it wrapped around the shoulders or as a scarf. Whatever your style, this versatile piece always looks effortlessly chic.
Fit Notes: This sweater runs large, if you prefer a more fitted fit choose two sizes smaller.
5. Brut Sexy
$125
These jeans have me hooked. I’ve been wearing these grey ones for ages and still get compliments at the grocery store. They’re the perfect cut for those who miss a slim fit denim look but still want to keep up with the latest trends. I love pairing cream denim with crisp white or navy. Tuck in a blouse or pair with a fitted tee for an effortless and elegant silhouette.
Fit Notes: I would recommend going up a size on these jeans – I’m normally a size 25 in denim but wear a size 27 in these jeans. Also, different washes will fit differently so be sure to take into consideration the fit notes listed under each wash. This cream color is made from 99% organic cotton and 1% elastane and runs a larger size than the 100% organic cotton grey jeans.
6. Romy Bag
$430
A classic, minimalist black bucket bag was high on my list this year. I love the style of The Row and Celine but I’m on a budget. The Romy is so lovely, understated luxury and reminds me of what I love about The Row and Celine, and only a fraction of what those bags are! The Romy bag is the perfect accessory to carry all your essentials with effortless, classy style.
7. Tobias Jumper
$170
Cezanne knitwear is something you’ll never tire of. This half-zip sweater feels like a dream and is perfect for layering. This sweater is so flattering, you’ll wear it everywhere: to the grocery store, to Pilates class, to dinner. It’s perfect for running errands or casual lunches with friends.
Fit Notes: The Tobias sweater fits true to size, however, if you prefer a more fitted style we recommend sizing down a size.
