Ingredients for the 7-layer salad
- Iceberg lettuce -This is the basic layer of the salad and adds a wonderful texture to it.
- Frozen peas – Once the salad is semi-decomposed and frozen, you can add peas to the salad.
- Boiled eggs – I love boiled eggs as an addition to this salad.
- Cheddar cheese – In this salad, the shredded sharp cheddar cheese is very tasty. Alternatively, you can add cube cheese, but make sure you chop it in small pieces.
- Red onion -For me, without the onion, the salad would not be complete.
- Crispy bacon – This will make the salad a Grand Slam. Feel free to replace turkey bacon or vegan bacon if necessary.
- Homemade dressing – Raises a quick dressing made with mayonnaise, sour cream, sugar, apple cider vinegar, salt and pepper.
There is some debate about which 7 ingredients create 7 layers, so customize it to your personal preferences! Other optional layers are half cherry tomatoes, grape tomatoes, green onions, celery, romaine lettuce, cucumbers, or red peppers. I also think chopping chicken is a very good idea. When it comes to choosing a layer, follow your heart!

How to assemble a 7-layer salad
The seven-layer salad must be placed in a glass bowl so that all the layers can be seen. It’s a very visually pleasant salad. I chose This glass bowl Because it really shows the layers. The little bowl is also a great option. Salads are intended to be served without mixing layers, so people can scoop straight and get a scoop of all layers.
Prepare the ingredients by mixing the dressing (instructions below), cooking the bacon and eggs, and chop all the ingredients.
To assemble the salad, start by adding one layer at a time to a glass bowl. I went in this order: lettuce, onion, peas, boiled eggs, dressing, finely cheese, bacon.
7-layer salad dressing
In a medium bowl, whisk mayonnaise, sour cream, sugar, apple vinegar, salt and pepper until well mixed. The dressing should be smooth and creamy. If you want to add a little texture to your dressing, you can add half a cup of Parmesan cheese.
Cover the bowl and refrigerate the dressing while preparing the rest of the salad. Cooling the dressing will melt the flavor together.
How much can you make this salad?
The ideal time to make this salad is 1-2 hours before serving, but sometimes you can do as much as you would expect from the night before. Seal it until you are ready to serve.
