There is a beloved breakfast nook just in front of two large windows from the kitchen. I can sit comfortably there without freezing, and when the vase on the table is permanently filled with flowers, I know that spring is in the middle. I love the winter comfort, but especially enjoy the warmth of spring in the corner of breakfast! And I love spending Saturdays at the beginning of a season dedicated to spring kitchen refreshment.
Spring is the perfect time to breathe new life into your home, and the kitchen, that is, the heart of all its – also assumes your attention. The winter kitchen is a warm and cozy hub, while the spring kitchen is light and airy. The good news is that spring refreshes don’t have to be overwhelming or expensive. Minimal changes allow you to change the space to give you a fresh feel in spring. Read 12 Simple and Impact Methods to revitalize your kitchen and guide the fresh energy of spring.
Tidy up
Refreshing your Spring Kitchen starts with good tidying. Stock your tools and appliances, then throw or donate items that take up unnecessary space or simply aren’t used. Are you hanging from chipped glasses or plates? Now is the time to let them go. If you are using old food storage containers with no lids or old dish towels that have seen a better day, you can give yourself permission to let go of these. Spring lightens up and reduces messiness in all forms, making your kitchen feel fresh and engaging. This includes counters and cabinets! If you’re feeling itchy to reposition, spring is the perfect time to try something new. I recently replaced the place where Vitamix and Espresso Machine live, and my kitchen feels brand new!

Deep clean
Of course, spring cleaning includes the kitchen. Deep clean means a new start and I love that it’s nothing more than a sparkly clean kitchen. To enter the zone, wear your favorite playlist and collect cleaning supplies. Let’s start with the basics. Clean the surface, rub the sink, and clean the floor. Next, clean the inside of your fridge, microwave and oven. (I like to do these tasks on Saturdays or Sundays!) Wipe away the dust, appliances and lighting fixtures and leave the floor wiped as the last task. This way you won’t miss any dust or debris that falls on the floor while cleaning beforehand. True Kitchen Deep Clean can take several days depending on how you want to split it.

Refreshing the pantry
No Spring Kitchen refresh is complete without clearing the pantry. The transition to spring is especially refreshing as the pantry may work overtime in the winter. To get started, take everything out (yes!) and throw the ones that are expired. Please save the items you want to donate. Once the pantry is empty, clean the floor and wipe off the shelves. Organize items you store in your group, bring them back to the pantry and keep them the same. Baskets and bins are especially useful for grouping items. The label keeps you above where everything is needed. Pro tips: Keep your everyday items at eye level and store underused materials high or in a drawer. I will keep the crockpot high in my pantry for spring – she will retire there until fall!
Bring fresh greens in it
If you’ve never had a herb garden in your kitchen, then a Spring Kitchen refresh is the perfect time to start it. Vibrant colors are synonymous with springs, and adding green to the space will quickly raise the countertop. Don’t know where to start? Mint and basil thrive indoors and are perfect for decorating spring recipes.
If you’re not sure about herbs, place a vase of fresh flowers on the counter instead, or add an indoor plant by a sunny window. If shelves and counter space are limited, you can also hang plants from the ceiling. There are also pots that can be attached to the wall! I have a disco ball planter that hangs from the ceiling, which I love, especially when it catches light. Plants not only brighten up your kitchen, but also improve air quality. It really wins, really.
I’ll exchange textiles
You can do the same in your kitchen just as you replace heavy knits for lightweight throws in your living room. Replace heavy winter kitchen linen with quirky fabrics in light colours. You can retire deeper, moody cooking towels for softer and more pastel things. Spring is for linen napkins, and is a print similar to gingham and floral. If necessary, add fresh runners to your dining table and sort spring and summer textiles to prepare for a warm weather gathering.

Seasonal artwork layers
I think your kitchen art is very underrated. Nothing is more chic than your backsplash or a beautiful print on a coffee station. Kitchen decorating is a great way to personalize your space, especially for spring. I recently hosted my home coffee shop with my own little logo and menu. The menu is displayed in the corner of the kitchen. It’s a fun memory and I love watching it every morning when I make coffee!
When decorating your kitchen in spring, tilt to soft colors to keep the universe light and bright. Assemble a flower print and tilt a vintage plant sketch against the backsplash or display hand-drawn recipes from your loved ones. A small gallery wall of collected prints and food-inspired artwork will bring your space to life and also serve as a great conversation starter.
Introducing the scent of signature springs
I love keeping fragrant candles in the kitchen. It keeps the atmosphere fresh even if no one is cooking. I love the scents of spring citrus and lavender. I even have a basil candle that I like to light. Kitchen candles can also be designed to remove odors before, during, or after cooking. This is useful when something like salmon is on the menu.
If the candle isn’t yours, Create your own Stovetop Potpourri with lemon slices, rosemary and vanilla extract to offer an all-natural home fragrance. Even simple lemon and water thimmer pots will freshen the smell of your kitchen in just a few minutes.

Refresh your coffee and tea stations
Morning coffee and tea rituals are something that many of us look forward to. I enjoy my hot coffee and latte throughout the winter, but the switch to iced coffee is just as sacred. Give your morning ritual a spring twist by incorporating light seasonal drinks like iced matcha, flower tea, and citrus water. I also push off my holiday and winter mugs and bring out a small collection of flower mugs. Curate the trays with several seasonal mugs, small jars of honey, and plates for lemon slices to make the space feel intentional and attractive. Spring morning routines are different from winter routines, so you can prepare your kitchen space and start the day with your right foot.
Update small appliances and accessories
You don’t need to buy new items to reset your Spring Kitchen, but you may need to update after you organize them. Don’t be afraid to treat yourself to a new appliance at the start of a new season. My husband and I recently got a ninja cream we’re hooked on. If a new appliance is not included in the card, replacing the utensil holder or adding a new cutting board will allow you to make a seasonal refresh in your kitchen without any major commitment.

Show fruit
What’s more beautiful than a bowl of lemon on a kitchen counter or table? It also adds a pop of colour and a bit of charm. Citrus fruits are displayed in a clean bowl for spring and arrive frequently. Use citrus fruits for cooking, drinking, and even cleaning. We use lemons to keep trash disposal fresh. Add lemon slices, baking soda and ice cube sprinkles and run once a month.
Upgrade your tableware
Spring is the perfect time to refresh your daily tableware. Consider swapping it with a colorful board or textured plate, glassware, or serving bowl to bring an easy seasonal atmosphere to your meal. I added a set of pre-painted floral dishes to my wedding registry almost ten years ago, but I still love them, especially during the spring and summer. The colours and patterns add more to your tablescape and daily meals!
If you don’t have a full set of dishes on your budget, add some statements that will bring joy. A special dish or glass of drinks alone is perfect for making your spring meal romantic.

Add fresh paint
The Spring Kitchen doesn’t have to be subtle either. If you’re ready to make big changes, a fresh paint coat can completely change your kitchen. Creamy Caucasians and classic neutrals don’t really lose style, but the 2025 colour trends are a little more bolder. For spring, choose a light, airy kitchen colour, like soft sage greens or subtle blues. If you want to make more statements, even deeper blues, olive greens and mustard yellow are moving into the kitchen again this year. If you find itchy to apply the cabinet to deep shades, keep the walls neutral and don’t be afraid to leave the strict white kitchen. Let your personality shine!
