A Wisconsin man has pleaded not guilty to charges that he used Grindr to carry out a sinister catfishing scheme against another man.
Matthew Huebschmann, 32, of Appleton, pleaded not guilty to a single charge of stalking during a Dec. 15 hearing before Outagamie County Judge Carrie Schneider. seehafer news.
Police said Huebschman used the gay dating app Grindr to pose as the victim, invite men to the victim’s home without their knowledge, and watch them arrive from a nearby location.
appleton police station said The alleged scheme lasted for more than a year, with multiple men arriving at the victims’ homes under false pretenses while Hübschmann watched.
“This sustained harassment caused lasting fear and distress to the victim and her family,” police said.
Appleton police arrested Huebschman on Oct. 28 after witnessing the men arrive at the victim’s home. Authorities have not disclosed Hubschmann’s alleged motive for targeting the victims.
If convicted, Hübschmann could face up to three and a half years in prison. WBAY The victim is reportedly seeking more than $9,000 in compensation.
Hübschmann is scheduled to return to court for a pretrial conference on January 26, 2026.
