Amber Glenn is “limiting” her time on social media after receiving “horrible hate and threats” for discussing the representation of the LGBTQ+ community at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Glenn, who won gold for Team LGBTQ+ in the team figure skating competition on Sunday (February 8), identifies as pansexual and is one of a record number of 41 out LGBTQ+ athletes taking part in the Milan-Cortina Games.
On Saturday (February 7), the athlete took to Instagram to complain about the “horrific amount of hate and threats” he has received.
This followed Glenn speaking about the struggles of the LGBTQ+ community during a press conference on Wednesday, February 4th. In response, Glenn acknowledged, “It’s been a difficult time for the entire community under this administration.”
He also said that this is not the first time the gay community has “had to fight for human rights” and that he is currently aligning the gay community with other marginalized groups in the United States. “I think we’re able to support each other in ways we didn’t have to before, and it’s made us so much stronger,” Glenn also said.

This appears to have led to backlash, including threats against the players. “During a difficult time for many Americans, I chose to use one of the great things about the United States of America (Freedom of Speech) to voice my feelings as an athlete competing on Team USA, and now I am receiving a horrific amount of hate and threats just for speaking out when asked how I feel,” Glenn reportedly wrote on Instagram on Saturday. our weekly magazine.
She added, “I expected this to happen, but I’m disappointed. For the sake of my health, I will limit my time on social media for now. But I will never stop using my voice for what I believe in.”
Glenn, who spoke Sunday after winning the gold medal, echoed many of his remarks. She admitted: [the backlash]”But Glenn overcame it. “I will continue to speak my truth.
