Despite the criticism online, Chappell-Lawn appears to be keeping quiet about his political stance.

The “Good Luck, Babe!” singer spoke candidly about his sexuality, mental health and his sudden rise to fame in the interview. GuardianBut on one topic, politics, he remained even-handed.

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign is using the song “Femininomenon” from Chappelle’s album. The Rise and Fall of a Midwest PrincessShe revealed why she refuses to endorse any candidate in the 2024 presidential election.

“There are a lot of problems with the government on all fronts,” Chappell told the paper.

Let’s discuss the 2024 election

“There are a lot of things I would like to change, so I don’t feel pressured to support anyone.”

The 26-year-old singer-songwriter criticized both major political parties but urged people to do their research and make an informed decision: “There are issues on both sides. I encourage people to use their critical thinking skills, vote, cast the small vote, vote for what’s going on in their city.”

Chappell has been a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. support Organizations like For the Gwolds, The GLO Center and The Trevor Project are examples of the change she would like to see: “Transgender rights. Cisgender people should not be allowed to make decisions for transgender people,” she said.

But fans have had mixed reactions to Chappelle’s comments about whether he supports Harris or her political rival, the former president. Donald Trump.

Girls…get serious.

To be fair, Chappelle has been consistent in her political stance. During her performance at the 2024 Governors Ball, Chappelle announced that she had declined an invitation to perform at the White House during Pride Month, and dedicated her performance of “My Kink Is Karma” to President Joe Biden’s administration. She said, “We want freedom, justice and liberation for all, and when you get that, I’m coming.”

In my opinion, Chappelle’s refusal to endorse a particular candidate should not overlook the visibility and progressive actions she is taking to advocate for LGBTQ+ people. What is more important: using a single Instagram post or TikTok video to advocate for a social issue, or using your entire song catalog and celebrity persona?

Ask yourself: Is it Chapel-Lone who we should be calling out harshly, or should we take her words into consideration to ensure that LGBTQ+ and transgender rights are properly considered by all candidates?
