Jimmy Swaggart’s excitement

Swaggart was born in 1935 in Ferriday, Louisiana. He began his religious career in the 1950s and 1960s with revival meetings in the South, and later became a radio preacher. He founded a Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in the 1960s and began the Department of Television in 1975. According to various media. He was affiliated with the Assembly of God, a Pentecostal Christian denomination. that I’ll tell you That salvation is possible only through Jesus Christ, and believers can have the gift of speaking in tongues – an unknown language.

“At the peak of the mid-1980s, Jimmy Swaggart’s global ministries had a television presence in over 140 countries, and together with Bible University, they won $500,000 a day from donations and sales of biblical courses, gospel music and merchandise.” New York Times Report. Swaggart had an emotional style of sermons that moved his congregation. He also recorded gospel albums and wrote books.

However, in October 1987, Swaggart was filmed outside a New Orleans motel with a female sex worker. The woman later said she had some sexual encounters with Swaggart, but they had no sex.

Swaggart apologized to his wife Francis and followers in a television sermon in February 1988. This came after he criticized two other prominent meetings of the Minister of God, Jim Bucker and Marvin Gorman, for his involvement in illegal matters.

He was stopped and eventually hardened by the assembly of God, but continued to preach without sectarian affiliation. However, his impact has diminished.

He didn’t repent much after being caught up in a porn magazine with a female sex worker during a traffic stop in Indio, California in 1991.

He then handed over his son Donnie Swaggart the control of his ministries, but he still preached. In 1995 he founded the SonLife Radio Network and in 2009 he founded the SonLife Broadcasting Network, which includes Television.

Prejudice and politics

Swaggart was less prominent than his contemporaries Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell Sr., but his views were clear. On the 2004 broadcast, he argued against the marriage rights of same-sex couples, saying, “I’ve never seen a man I wanted to marry.”

He continued, “And I’ll be dull and mediocre. If I see me like that, I’ll kill him and say to God that I’m dead.” That led to complaints to Canadian broadcasters and some sort of apology from Swaggart.

Killing someone and telling God about his death is “a humorous statement that means nothing. You can’t lie to God. That’s ridiculous,” he told The Associated Press. “If it was a shaming, I certainly didn’t think it was, but if they’re offended, I certainly would offer an apology.”

Jimmy Swaggart Ministries Submitted Website Last year’s presidential election denounced “same-sex marriage, transgenderism, human trafficking, drug trafficking,” abortion and socialism. The post pleaded Christian to vote, but did not say who to vote for. It is not clear whether it was written by Swaggat, his son, or anyone else.

Also, leading up to the election, Donnie Swaggart denounced the black minister for recognizing Kamala Harris. “When the biggest Pentecostal leader of African Americans stood up and said I was in support of that woman, he said I was in support of murder, I was in support of lesbianism, I was in support of transgenderism, I was in support of all evil.” wbrz. It led to backlash from black religious leaders. Donnie Swaggart also said he and his father attended an event with Donald Trump before the election.

in True Social Post On Tuesday, Trump called Jimmy Swaggart a “someone of incredible faith.”

Jimmy Swaggart had other prejudices. He called Judaism, Catholicism and Mormonism “fake cults” and stated that Christian science was neither “Christian” nor “scientific.”

Swaggart was the first cousin of two music stars, rock and roller Jerry Lee Lewis and country musician Mickey Gilley. He said he had prayed for the salvation of Lewis, who married his 13-year-old cousin and engaged in many sexual issues. Towards the end of his life, Lewis recorded a gospel album with Swaggart, and the pastor preached at Lewis’ funeral in 2022.

Swaggart was hospitalized since entering cardiac arrest on June 15th.
