A White House spokesman on Thursday did not say whether the Trump Vance administration plans to lift sanctions against LGBTQ people and other groups on those responsible for human rights abuses as part of an agreement to accept deported immigrants from the United States.

Uganda Foreign Affairs Director Bagia Vincent Weiswa said in a statement that the agreement between his country and the United States is “about third-country citizens who may not be granted asylum in the United States, but may be reluctant or concerned about returning to their country of origin.”

Waiswa described the agreement as “a temporary arrangement with conditions that include the inaccessibility of individuals with criminal history or unaccompanied minors.”

“Uganda also likes individuals from African countries to be those who have been transferred to Uganda,” added Weiswa. “The parties have developed detailed modalities on how the contract is implemented.”

In May 2023, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni signed an anti-homosexuality law that includes a “greater homosexuality” death penalty clause.

The Biden-Harris administration has imposed visa restrictions on Ugandan officials, excluding the country from a program that allows sub-Saharan African countries to be tax-free with the US in June, and resumed lending to Uganda after the World Bank Group suspended new loans in response to anti-hoon therapy laws.

The 2024 Human Rights Report, which LGBTQ people have been “eliminate” by advocacy groups, does not specifically address the disparaging laws or the impact they had on LGBTQ Ugandans. However, the report states that Ugandan government officials “reportedly committed sexual violence.”

“The NGO reported that at least 15 police medical staff had submitted at least 15 forced anal examinations after their arrest.” I’ll read it. “Opinion protesters said security forces threatened to use forced anal tests during interrogation.”

“The Trump administration is committed to fulfilling President Trump’s promise to carry out the largest massive deportation operation for illegal criminal foreigners in history, history and history.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Museveni on Thursday.

“Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni about opportunities to deepen US-Auganda cooperation on migration, mutual trade and commercial ties,” State Department spokesman Tommy Piggott said in a statement. “The secretary also thanked Uganda for providing a model of regional stability, including a valuable contribution to peacekeeping in East Africa.”

A State Department spokesman told Blade that the Department “has not commented on the content of the private diplomatic negotiations.”

“However, for decades, Uganda has hosted refugees from across Africa and has one of the world’s most comprehensive protection regimes for refugees,” the spokesman added.
