President Donald Trump prided journalists at an Olympic press conference. Because *Check Note*, no one praised his trans sports ban before the 2028 Olympics and Paralympics.
Trump spoke while speaking at a press conference on Tuesday (August 5) in light of the 2026 Olympics scheduled to take place in Los Angeles.
He doubled the February executive order, winning the title “Turning Men out of Women’s Sports,” and confirmed that the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee would adhere to and ban trans athletes from the women’s categories at events.
On the White House broadcast, the president welcomed the US Olympic Committee Chairman Gene Sykes and thanked him for “the recent prohibition of men from competing in women’s sports,” he told the quiet crowd.
“It’s amazing not to hear that applause,” Trump added. “But no one wants to applause, that’s crazy.”
US Olympic and Paralympic officials banned trans athletes from women’s sports in July. As reported by The New York Times, the Olympic Committee “quietly changed eligibility rules on Monday,” along with a “short, vaguely expressed paragraph” that outlines the updated policy.
Trump continued. “The US will not steal trophies from women at the 2028 Olympics. We are grateful for the fairness.”
During the question segment, reporter I asked Whether the Department of Justice considers suing accusations against trans women competing for boxing “to beat American athletes.”
The reporter also asked if the Trump administration would consider making genetic testing a requirement.
“Well, I think there’s a very strong form of testing,” replied the president. “As for the charges, we have to ask the Attorney General about it.
“But there’s a very strong form of testing and if the tests aren’t released properly, they won’t be in the Olympics.”
Of course, at the final Olympics in Paris, Algerian female boxer athlete Iman Kelif was at the heart of online “dressing.” Trump previously misrepresented her trance, despite the International Olympic Committee confirming that she complies with their regulations.
Trump previously said of trans women in women’s sports: “As long as I am president, we will always protect women’s sports.
“No, men don’t play in women’s sports,” Trump continued. “I said that, and as you know, I categorized it with a very strong executive order. It’s over.”
The Olympic ban is the latest in a long attack on the trans community from the current administration. Trump recently (August 5) banned trans athletes from obtaining “extraordinary ability” visas, and the National College Athletics Association (NCAA) has also banned trans women from women’s competitions.
