The Trump administration is suing California about policies that allow trans athletes to compete under gender identity in K-12 school sports.

This comes after state officials said Monday that California would not follow the administration’s demand to withdraw its comprehensive policy and apologize to cisgender female athletes who lost to their trans opponents.
The U.S. Department of Justice filed a lawsuit Wednesday in US District Court for the Central District of California. The California Department of Education and the California Transport Federation has been appointed as defendants.
