Troye Sivan has slammed “homophobic” claims that he will be “playing grinders everywhere” while on tour with Charli XCX.
The “Rush” hitmakers are currently embarking on a collaborative project. Sweat Tour He bought tickets to tour with Charli XCX after the latter declared “Brat Summer” over, and despite the North American leg being 95 percent sold out (Nashville was 78 percent sold out), Sivan said gossip columns were writing that he was “just happy to be on tour and grinding everywhere we go.”
The rumour continues:[Sivan]”His label doesn’t contribute to his tours at all, so he’s not really concerned about sales…If ticket sales don’t increase, the label will likely cancel the tour.”
On September 15, Sivan responded to claims made by Celebrity Blind Items account @celebriteablinds_ in a now-deleted TikTok post, in which he said, “Straight people are too comfortable… [Charli and I] For comparison, there are 22 shows scheduled across the country, and tickets are 95% sold out. The only city where the show fell through is Nashville, where tickets are 78% sold out.”
The 2023 Man of the Year recipient correctly pointed out that the allegations perpetuate stereotypes that are “pure homophobic,” especially when it comes to the gay community and hook-up culture: “Don’t shame me for having sex.”
The “One Of Your Girls” singer continued, “First of all, I don’t have to travel across the country to get laid. I can have sex anywhere. I can have sex in LA.”
“You go on tour because you released an album, and people buy tickets to see the show, so, damn it.”
PinkNews has contacted @celebrityblinds for comment on the matter.
Sivan and Charlie’s tour will kick off in Detroit on September 14th and will visit numerous cities across the US and Canada, including Toronto, New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Atlanta and Miami.
