England defender Lucy Bronze revealed that she played the entire Women’s Euro 2025 Championship with a broken tibia in her right leg.

The English Lioness successfully defended the women’s Euro title by winning the 2025 title against Spain in a final penalty shootout, but it was a rocky journey that led them to the point.

Leah Williamson’s team included a lot of queer hooky stars, but while she doesn’t often discuss her personal life, Lucy Bronze, known to be LGBTQ, made serious claims to the tournament’s MVP.

After the Lioness wins the final against Spain (July 27) (3-1 in penalty, 1-1 in full time), the defender BBC She played the entire tournament. This began in Switzerland on July 2 – with a fractured tibia (sinborn).

“I actually played the entire tournament with a broken tibia, and no one knew,” Bronze said.

She added: “I hurt my knee with my other leg today. So I’m feeling a lot of pain and I got a lot of praise from the girls after the Swedish match.

“But if that’s what it takes to play for the UK, that’s what I do – they know that. We inspire each other by playing things like that and finally took us to the end.”

The Bronze played the final England vs. 105 minutes. I just shed tears towards the end of the Spanish match.

Sweden – In the England Quarter Finals, she scored an England victory penalty.

England coach Sarina Wigman told the BBC:

“There’s a huge mentality across the team, but she has a crazy mentality. It’s incredible.”

Former Bronze England teammate Ellen White told BBC Sports:

“It’s not normal to say she just won a massive tournament with her broken tibia. The pain is insane and she must have beaten that ball in a Swedish match.

“A fair play to the girls who praised her. That’s true for Lucy Bronze. She plays for England and gives it everything to win in England.”

Bronze may not have spoken extensively about her personal life, but when Iker Casillas and Carles Puyol joked about being gay on Twitter, she said their comments indicate that football still needs a better education on sexuality.

Bronze said at the time: “But I think the reaction that was on social media in general is from not thinking it was a joke to being hacked. The reaction shows that this type of subject still requires a lot of education because that kind of response was not normal.”
