HBO’s Our Last It debuted in January 2023 and quickly became one of the network’s biggest hits, attracting praise from both fans and newcomers of the original PlayStation game. Taken from an award-winning video game franchise, the series follows Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) into an apocalyptic world destroyed by the fungal infection that destroyed humanity. Along the way, the duo faces dangerous survivors, emotional losses, and bonds that grow deeper in each episode.
Spoilers first!
However, fans were surprised by the events of Season 2, especially Joel’s brutal death and Ellie’s budding romance with Dina (Isabella Merced). Yes, we’re all saying Pascal is off the show, but that’s not an excuse to spiralize on internet trolling. The series was already facing backlash in season one with a devastatingly gentle portrayal of Bill (Nick Offerman) and Frank (Murray Bartlett). The episode was review bombed by homophobic viewers, but it still became one of the most praised in the series. Hatred didn’t slow LGBTQ+ expressions. And that certainly isn’t now.
“You don’t need to see it.”
When asked about the backlash, Ramsey said Award won Podcast (via) Gamesradar) They “tryed to pilot clear as much as possible.”
“Because there’s nothing I can do anyway. The show comes out. There’s nothing I can change or change, so there’s nothing to read or watch anything,” Ramsey said. “Of course, people have a right to receive their opinions. But that doesn’t affect the show. It doesn’t affect how the show continues, or anything in any way. They’re very separate to me.
The Emmy-nominated actor gave critics a direct option if they didn’t like the direction of the HBO series.

Season 3 Focus
Ramsey counts the days until he gets season three while shrugging off those he doesn’t like. At the recent Emmy’s FYC event, showrunner and co-creator Craig Mazin confirmed that Caitlin Dever stepped into the spotlight. Yes, she’s mad at being the one who killed Joel last season.
“I can’t believe the series can be constructed like this. That is, season 2 has just finished, and season 3 will star – spoiler alert – Caitlin.”
Mazin will be the sole showrunner for season three following Neil Druckman’s decision to take a step back to focus on his work at Naughty Dog, the studio behind the original game.

Breaking the barrier with Emmy
People may have one or two things to say about Ramsey’s personality, but so does Emmy. The star was nominated for a second Emmy Award on Tuesday morning and made history as the first non-binary performer to win multiple nominations from the TV Academy. They become the best lead actresses in the drama, along with co-star Pedro Pascal in the lead actor category, and the entire series for standout drama.
2023, Yellow jacket Actor Liv Hewson made the headline when he chose not to submit for Emmy’s consideration, as the category remains separated by male and female performers. Ramsey’s nomination marks another step towards a broader perception of Hollywood’s non-binarreactors.
