Miss Gay Rochester (MGR), the oldest regional drag beauty pageant in the country, held its 52nd annual event on Sunday, November 10th at the Harrow East Ballroom. Rochester, New York. Previous title holders have continued to win national competitions such as: miss continental Maya Douglas ’85 (MGR ’81, recently named co-owner of the pageant); rupaul’s drag race(Pandora Boxx, MGR ’95 & ’96, Darienne Lake, MGR ’99, and Mrs. Kasha Davis, MGR ’08).
“This pageant, which has been going on for over 50 years, has really created not only a great experience for everyone who comes to the pageant, but also a city that supports drag,” said MGR ’91, co-owner of the pageant. said one Aggie Dune. . “It’s all about these girls shining in each moment on stage. And it’s about the audience cheering them on. They’re their champions.”
