Fans of Handsome Husbands have likely seen them play queer characters in movies. hallmark and Lifetime movies, the couple decided to make a new movie holiday exchange into our own hands.
”[This film] There’s a little twist holidaythis is one of my personal favorites. As it turns out, gay Christmas movies are extremely difficult to sell. The holiday market is somehow limited to straight men and straight stories, and that’s really frustrating,” Frey told PRIDE.
nevertheless LGBTQ+The presentation has certainly improved over the years, and there’s a level of realism that was often lacking or suppressed in mainstream films.
“I wanted to tell the truth about the gay experience, and this was a really empowering adventure for us to do it in our own way. We’ve been making this film for a lifetime. We didn’t mean to. This wasn’t about Hallmark. It was just important to us that we make a gay holiday themed movie.” Frey explains.
Hallmark and Lifetime movies are also known for being very cheesy, so Frey and Massey wanted to showcase real LGBTQ+ love in this film. This movie contains some spicy content that you would never see on a normally conservative network.

“That was understated! The kiss… it was a real kiss,” Frey added. “There’s a lot of kissing and it’s real. There’s drool and there’s sloppiness. There’s no shame in Hallmark or Lifetime, but a little bit is enough. I don’t want to follow those rules anymore.”
Sadly, holiday exchange The film is one of the only new LGBTQ+ films to be released this holiday season, a time when queer representation has been significantly reduced.
