Emmy Award-winning Broadway legend Sheryl Lee Ralph accepted the “Advocate of the Year” award at Wednesday night’s Out100 event, where she said she was inspired. LGBTQ+ Community and shared wisdom about what advocacy means to her.

“Being named Advocate of the Year is an honor I bear on behalf of all individuals who have fought for love, identity, visibility, and freedom,” said Ralph. .
The acclaimed singer and actress went on to share her views on advocacy.
“Advocacy is not a solo journey, it is a collective movement. It is the courage of those who came before us, the courage of those who stand with us, and the hope of those who will follow.”
Ralph took the time to pay tribute to those who trailblazed before her. She also shared how she has been motivated by the experiences of queer people.
“Over the years, I have been inspired by many in this community. from those who show us that it is also an act,’” she said.
She also warned that there is still work to be done.
“I believe in the power of unity. The world may try to divide us, but our strength will always be in unity, in lifting each other up, and at the heart of it all, love is unstoppable. “It’s in our ability to remind each other,” Ralph said.
