It’s just two Gen Z icons kissing… no big deal (screams in my head)
On Friday, August 23rd, pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter released her highly anticipated album. Short and sweetand to kick things off, she debuted the stunning music video for her latest single, “Taste.” Wednesday Featuring star Jenna Ortega, the video is wild and bombastic, packed with dark humor, horror references, and girl-on-girl action that fans can’t stop talking about.
Murder and mayhem
Directed by Dave Myers, the video finds Carpenter and Ortega playing femme fatales with a deadly yet oddly playful rivalry. The video begins with Carpenter, literally dressed as a hitman, checking her lipstick against a knife. She then storms into the mansion ready to take down Ortega, who is trying to rob her of her man. But in true horror style, things take an unexpected turn.
Not one to lose, Ortega shoots Carpenter with a shotgun, sending him flying off a balcony, and from there the video escalates into increasingly violent showdowns, complete with voodoo dolls, a hospital brawl, and a chainsaw massacre.
Ortega and Carpenter share an incredibly steamy kiss.
A funeral-like end
The video ends with the two rivals, dressed in chic black outfits, attending the poor man’s funeral, giggling and sipping smoothies as they leave.
Full of cheesy references
