With a high-speed train, an impending disaster, and a cast of high-profile drag queens, “Stop That Train!” leans into the height of chaos. The first trailer for this action-comedy, released by Bleecker Street and World of Wonder, sets the tone early on. This is a camp spectacle that knows exactly what it’s doing.
Directed by Adam Shankman, the film centers on the crisis looming in Los Angeles, with none other than RuPaul stepping in as President Gagwell. Yes, the commander-in-chief is completely charming (and ready to serve not only the country, but also in appearance).
From coach to crisis mode
The story is about best friends Tess and Dee Dee, played by Ginger Minj and Jujubee. The two are stuck on a less-than-exciting shift on a train called the Stank Rail, until they land a gig aboard the much more glamorous Gra-Amazonian Express.
Their upgrades won’t last long. A massive weather phenomenon called “Strmaganza” threatens to cause speeding trains to veer off course, resulting in catastrophe. Suddenly, your job changes from customer service to survival.

To keep things from going completely crazy, Tess and Dee Dee team up with a top-notch crew, including characters played by Simone, Brooke Lynn Heights, and Marcia Marcia. The dynamic is exactly what you’d expect, with equal parts tension, shadows, and reluctant teamwork.
Trailer to understand the issues
The preview wastes no time and conveys the tone. When President Gagwel requests an update on the situation, she tells him that the Gra-Amazonian Express is heading into a major storm. Her response, “Tell me gay,” sets the tone for the camp and satire that is about to unfold.
From there, the passengers panic, and the crew tries to keep calm with increasingly nonsensical announcements. It’s a disaster movie that moves forward with a wink.
Matt Rogers, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Rachel Bloom, Lisa Rinna, and Nicole Richie round out the ensemble, each seeming to lean into the film’s self-conscious humor.

One of the standout moments is when Geller plays himself. In the midst of the chaos, she is told by a passenger, not a fan, that she got the wrong seat and that she had paid to sit by the window (we’re being treated to a stupid treat).
Drugs, disasters, and big-screen swings
“Stop That Train!” brings together reality TV icons, comedy veterans, and mainstream stars around a concept that feels tailored to an audience with a penchant for high camp. The involvement of World of Wonder, the force behind the Drag Race series, shows a clear connection with its fanbase, but the film aims for broader appeal with its action-comedy framework.
The project was written behind the scenes by Connor Wright and Christina Friel, with RuPaul Charles credited as a producer, along with longtime collaborators Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato.
Shot in Los Angeles, the film keeps the setting close to home, at least until a train threatens to turn the destination into an accident scene.
release date
“Please Stop That Train!” is scheduled to be released in theaters on June 12th, and is positioned as a summer production that combines spectacle and satire. If the trailer is any indication, audiences can expect a full-throttle ride of humor, references, and drag excellence over subtlety.
So let’s get on board…just don’t expect a smooth trip.
