Queer Eye’s Karamo Brown Pulls Out Of Press Over Abuse

Queer Eye star Karamo Brown withdraws from press over abuse

Karamo Brown pulled out of a media appearance promoting the new season at the last minute. queer eyeto the “surprise” of his castmates.

Netflix’s hit show will soon be returning for its 10th and final season. This iteration of the “Fab Five” has been around for more than a decade, but it hasn’t always been plain sailing (designer Bobby Berk left the original lineup after eight seasons).

However, in the promotional interview, Gayle King This morning got off to a strange start with Gail saying, “I got a call less than an hour ago that Karamo Brown won’t be joining us today.”

She read Karamo’s statement, noting that Karamo’s assistant claimed that Karamo was afraid of being “bullied.” “I would like everyone to remember the main theme that I have been trying to teach them for the last 10 years, which is to focus on their own mental health and peace, and to protect them from people and the world that seek to destroy it. That is why I am unable to be present today.”

When asked if the cast were “surprised” by his absence, Antoni replied, “I think surprised is quite an understatement.”

“Our queer eye Dear family, we’ve been doing this for almost 10 years and it’s an incredible story. And family is complex and we are never excluded from it,” he continued.

When asked if any of them had anything specific to say to Karamo, Jonathan Van Ness replied: “One of the things I was so honored to learn from Karamo… is that we have to meet people where they are. And he’s taught people to center on what they need. And I’m actually really proud of him. Let’s center on what we need. Do what you have to do to take care of yourself. I’d be lying if I didn’t feel that way sometimes. I think that’s really beautiful.” ”

Karamo also did not appear in cast interviews. Jenna and Sheinelle’s Today Show. Organizers also read out an email from Karamo’s assistant. “Mr. Karamo feels that he has been mentally and emotionally abused for many years and has been advised by his therapist to protect himself and his peace by not attending.”

A video of Karamo was then played, in which he described the new season as “amazing” and thanked fans, staff, and Netflix executives.

In response, Antoni said: “We are very disappointed that he is not here. We as an organization fully support him in taking care of himself. We agree with his words, but we are here to celebrate the legacy of 10 years.”

Tan France agreed: “This show was never about us. Yes, we were the face of the show, but this show is about our heroes.”

As of now, Karamo does not appear to be following Antoni, Tan, or JVN on Instagram. They don’t follow him either.
