Producer speaks out about Joaquin Phoenix’s departure from Nightmare movie

A producer has spoken out about Joaquin Phoenix’s reported withdrawal from the untitled gay romance just days before filming was set to begin.

In context, Variety It was reported Friday that the Oscar-winning actor has abruptly dropped out of director Todd Haynes’ next film. The director explained “A sexually explicit love story between two men set in the 1930s.”


Neither Joaquin nor Todd have spoken publicly about the news, but producer Christine Bashon of the film’s production company, Killer Films, described the situation as a “nightmare.” Deleted Social media posts for the weekend.

There has been much speculation as to why Joaquin left the show. Variety Reports said the film’s staff suspected he was having second thoughts about the film’s explicit sex scenes. Joker The star “flinched.”
