Edward O’Keefe, owner of Peabody Heights Brewery in Baltimore’s Abel neighborhood, said the man had macquins the two outside the brewery as he had left Butch Garden, a queer community event held on Saturday, August 2nd from 4-9pm. wbal.
According to the billing documents, police received a call around 9:30pm, reporting that someone with a plastic baton was trying to attack him.
A few blocks from the brewery on Abel Avenue and 32nd Avenue, a police officer saw a man in dark clothing running east. The man was later identified as 34-year-old Matthew Middleton. When officers approached and asked what was going on, Middleton allegedly said he was chased.
After detaining Middleton, police questioned people at the brewery. The suspect also claimed he had a gun in the backpack he was wearing.
Middleton told officials he was carrying pocket knife, pepper spray and a “BB gun-like launcher.”
When asked about the BB gun, Middleton told the officer he wanted to exercise his first amendment by protesting the event, but brought his weapon as he had been threatened by people in the past.
“Why can they threaten me with silence?” Middleton told the police.
The victim said he saw Middleton standing on the sidewalk outside the “Butch Garden” event, carrying a sign that reads “Trump Vance will make America great again.” Middleton claimed he was troubled by people who grabbed his backpack. According to the bill, one victim told police he saw someone who “opposed him, but not in reality.”
After one victim sprayed pepper, she and her friends began to run. At that point, Middleton is said to have pointed a black handgun to someone else outside the brewery.
Police arrested Middleton and charged him with assault.
O’Keefe said he is working with the “Butch Garden” organizer to help one of the victims and to enhance security for future events.
“The police came, they spoke to us, the police also spoke to the individual, and we helped them wash their eyes and give them beer.
One corresponding officer confirmed Middleton from a similar argument in July on Greenmount Avenue. It was reported in that case Baltimore SunMiddleton – carrying the Pro Trump sign – is said to have fought the man who told him to put it, and matched him.
“People keep attacking me in this town,” Middleton reportedly told the officer when asked why he was involved in these types of cases.
