Polls show that about two-thirds of Americans want sporting events that are isolated based on their gender assigned at birth.

Gallup A poll was conducted This shows public opinion on trans rights when it comes to sports.

When asked, “Should trans athletes be allowed to play only on sports teams that are tailored to their birth gender?”, about 69% of Americans agreed to the statement. In comparison, only 24 people agree that “transgender athletes should be able to play on sports teams that match their current gender identity.”

Support for birth certificate gender restriction includes 90% of Republicans and 72% of self-described independents. But only 41% of Democrats feel the same.

In all cases, support for sports restrictions was higher than that of documents such as passports and birth certificates. Approximately 66% of those voted to agree to a statement that “birth sex must be listed in government documents such as driver’s licenses and passports.”

That includes 89% of Republicans, 66% of independents and 38% of Democrats.

The slim majority of 54% of Democrats believe that individuals should be able to list their current gender identities in government documents.

But even among Democrats, only 45% of the majority feel that trans people can play on sports teams that suit their identity. Approximately 14% of Democrats were unsure.

Respondents were asked between May 1st and May 18th.

Gallup voted for Americans in their views on transgender participation in sports Since 2021and the support of trans athletes participating in sports according to gender identity is steadily declining. Four years ago, 62% of Americans felt that sports participation should depend on the gender assigned at birth. By 2023that number has risen to 69% and remains. Meanwhile, support for athletes playing based on gender identity has declined from 34% in 2021 to 26% in 2023 and now 24%.

Republican President Donald Trump has signed an executive order, days after his current term, banning trans athletes from playing sports based on gender identity.

However, many Democratic leaders have become unstable by supporting the rights of trans-athletes. Democrat California Gov. Gavin Newsom told conservative influencers that women’s participation in women’s sports was “deeply unfair” in an interview this year, and later changed rules regarding participation in events under pressure from the Trump administration.
