Podcaster Jennifer Welch calls JD Vance a ‘failed drag queen’

Former Bravo star and podcaster Jennifer Welch called U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance a “failed drag queen,” citing a photo from her college days in a wig and skirt.

During the August 2024 presidential campaign, a photo that people believed showed J.D. Vance, then a potential candidate for Donald Trump’s Republican nomination, appeared on social media and quickly went viral as the staunchly anti-LGBTQ+, anti-drug Republican politician appeared to be dragging his feet.

The image, said to have been taken at a party at Ivy League school Yale University in 2012, shows a J.D. Vance-like figure wearing a skirt, a blonde wig and thick black eyeliner.

J.D. Vance declined to confirm whether the photo was actually of him.

During a recent episode of Welch’s popular left-wing podcast i did it She, along with Pod Save America host Tommy Vieter, slammed Vance.

“He’s a failed drag queen,” she said. “He wanted to be a drag queen, but he couldn’t do that. He wasn’t nice enough. He goes to Peter Thiel’s gay boot camp in Silicon Valley and comes out like a sociopathic Queer Eye freak show. You know, it would be even cooler if he had come out.”

“There’s a group of DL demon lords.”

Welch went on to argue that many of the leading figures in MAGA circles are not heterosexual and are using Christian nationalist politics to hide their true sexuality.

“I have a perfect theory, Tommy, that there is a group of DL Demon Queens in the MAGA movement,” she said. “And I think a lot of them are upset that they can’t come out and be proud.

“So they beat everyone up all day, and then at night they wake up on Grindr and do gay things.

“I grew up in a red state surrounded by evangelical people, and they don’t think that way.”

Vietre agreed with her, saying, “She’s so right about the oppressed.”

“There are a lot of people who suppress things and do evil, cruel things to parts of themselves that they hate,” he says. “You just see it over and over again.”
