Agatha All Along Lead star Sasheer Zamata revealed that co-star Patti LuPone “delayed” filming at night for dance parties and conga lines.
Spin-off WandaVision, Agatha All Along The series follows Kathryn Hahn, who plays the witch in the Marvel show, as she is stripped of her powers and forms a group of sorcerers and wizards to follow the path of the witch and reclaim her former glory.
But it wasn’t all frogs and broomsticks, comedian Zamata told PinkNews exclusively: The cast members, who became a kind of witches’ coven in real life, also threw the occasional dance party, led by legendary Broadway star LuPone.
“We were shooting late into the night,” Zamata says, “and [Patti] He is the only one who sings and tells stories.
“She brought little speakers onto the set and played music. She was the spark on the set. It was a lot of fun.”
That’s fine, but once the dancing got too intense it became less Agatha-like from start to finish, and then 10 minutes later when the dance break ended it became more Agatha-like.
“Her performance of the Chuck Mangione song was so whimsical and magical. One day while we were shooting, we were all so tired. [Patti] “It turns out we all need a pick-me-up,” Zamata continues.
“So she put on this song and brought the speakers in front of the camera, and we were dancing behind her in a little conga line. The crew was dancing too. We had slowed down production, but we needed a dance break. It was quite a scene.”
Oh, I’d love to join a conga line with Patti LuPone, Sasheer Zamata, Kathryn Hahn, Joe Locke and Aubrey Plaza.
Zamata, who hopes the series will resonate with queer fans, will play Jennifer Kael, a live-action witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Heart StopperRock is portrayed as a decidedly “camp” teen.
LuPone, on the other hand, is playing a 450-year-old witch, so she’ll have plenty of time to party.
Agatha All Along It is scheduled to premiere as a double bill on September 18th. Disney+The remaining seven episodes will be released weekly.
