The NFL will donate $100,000 to Carl Nassib’s favorite LGBTQ advocacy group, The Trevor Project, for National Coming Out Day, a gay former player announced today.
“I’m really, really grateful to the NFL.” Nassib said on NFL Network. In announcing the donation. “That’s a really positive thing.”
Nassib came out as gay in 2021 and at the time donated $100,000 to The Trevor Project, which helps prevent self-harm among LGBTQ youth, and the NFL matched that donation. He retired before the start of the 2023 season after a career with Cleveland, Tampa Bay and Las Vegas.

The Trevor Project is an important cause to Nassib, and he reiterated that in today’s announcement.
