Netflix is closing out the year with an all-new game show aimed at exploding friendships, strengthening partnerships, and causing the kind of chaos that only Neil Patrick Harris could perfectly host. First broadcast on December 17th What’s inside the box? Eight contestants will come together to compete for 13 exciting and life-changing prizes. All prizes are hidden inside a glittering oversized gold box. To win, teams must answer trivia questions, outwit rival players, and survive surprising twists to earn the season’s ultimate reward: a Super Box worth more than $250,000.
But the real drama is What’s inside the box? It’s not just about the contestants winning, it’s about the risks they’re willing to take.
Each episode offers opportunities to steal, sabotage, and strategize, forcing contestants to decide whether to play as a loyal teammate, a clever tactician, or a ruthless competitor. Even best friends and couples can face unexpected pressures, and trust proves to be as valuable a currency as knowledge.
Below, we introduce you to the diverse cast that will compete to solve the mystery inside each box, and what they hope to take home with them.
mary ashanti and jenna

What they want is in the box: “It’s a deal with a beauty brand to co-create something epic.”
For hair and makeup artists Mary Ashanti and Jennan, this show is an extension of a 12-year partnership built on mentorship, artistry, and sisterhood. The two met during their cosmetology training and quickly became family. “We’re more than just best friends,” they say. “We are chosen sisters who build dreams and make money together.” Their chemistry and confidence make them one of the most harmonious teams this season.
Keira and Cardel

What they want is in the box: “A rent-free apartment. Dream big, right?!”
Kyra, a vocal coach from Atlanta, and Cardel have been friends since college and have such a close relationship that strangers sometimes mistake them for twins. “Some would say we behave the same, like twins,” they tell Tudam. “We’re integrated into each other’s lives musically, personally, and spiritually.” What are their biggest challenges? It suppresses their expressive individuality. “I hope the microphone isn’t on all the time,” they joke.
erin and daniel

What they want is in the box: “Things related to travel, like a dream vacation or a second car since we’re sharing one.”
Identical twins Erin and Daniel share careers, hobbies, and — yes — a car. “We live in a bubble, but it’s just us,” Erin says. “We even share cars, because there’s literally no point in having two cars when we’re always next to each other.” They grew up in a trivia-loving family, so they’re pretty confident about their chances this season. “We’ve been competitive since day one. Sports, grades, boys, you name it,” they said. “But this time, I really enjoyed being on the same team for the first time.”
rice and daniel

What they want is in the box: “It’s a home gym.”
Newlyweds Reece and Danielle are participating in the competition at a turning point in their lives and are preparing to raise a family. Reese is a former NFL player who briefly played for the Arizona Cardinals and now works as a coach, while Daniel is a hair extension specialist who works with celebrities. “I wear pants, but she brings the spice,” Rice says. Their goal is to enjoy unforgettable adventures before their family grows. Rice jokes, “Can you put a baby seat in a Ferrari?”
joey and scott

What they want is in the box: “We both love travel and food. Any trip, anywhere, anytime, anywhere is great.”
Together for over 20 years, Joey and Scott are the epitome of teamwork. “We’re best friends, business partners, and we always do everything together,” Joey tells Tudam. Both work in renovation and construction, with Joey focusing on design and Scott focusing on real estate brokerage, and the two have collaborated on many projects. “Our strength is working together. We are used to working closely together, listening to each other, and finding solutions.” They live in North Carolina with their dog, Charlotte Dorothy Peppercorn.
macy and jasmine

What they want is in the box: “A trip to our dream destination.”
Former Atlanta Falcons cheerleaders Macy and Jasmine met as rookies and have been inseparable ever since, even cheering together at the Super Bowl. Their secret weapon is what they call “spinergy,” a combination of positivity and relentless drive. Still, Jasmine warns that her expressions may betray her. “My face expresses exactly how I feel,” she says. Don’t be fooled by their smiles. These two are fiercely competitive.
luke and leona

What they want is in the box: “Something like tickets to a big sporting event or something we can go on a trip with.”
Texas mother-son team Leona and Luke share a lifelong bond that grew even stronger after the loss of Leona’s husband. “We work really well as a team and have literally known each other our whole lives,” says Leona. Luke is a stay-at-home dad to the twins, and Leona is a university professor. Both admit that they are very competitive, but are committed to playing fair and wisely.
Vin and Andrew

What they want is in the box: “Something life-changing – cash, a dream vacation, or a once-in-a-lifetime experience worth a gamble.”
Best friends for over 22 years, Vin and Andrew met while managing a nightclub in Miami. Despite living on opposite coasts, they still operate with a strange synchronicity. “We’ve been dealing with high-pressure situations for decades, communicating without saying anything,” Bin says. Andrew added that trust is their strategy. “We may not always agree, but we will always defer to the person we feel stronger about.”
With a bold personality, high emotions, and even bigger stakes, What’s inside the box? It promises to be a game show where relationships are as important as trivia skills. Increasing competition can break down alliances, but the rewards can be life-changing.
What’s inside the box? It will premiere on Netflix on December 17th. Ready to guess what’s inside?
