Megyn Kelly is furious over Taylor Swiftβs endorsement of Kamala Harris and Tim Waltz.
Former Fox News host and The former NBC host and conservative online personality went into a complete panic for five minutes on his SiriusXM show. The Megyn Kelly Show Taylorβs presidential nomination.
βTaylor, youβre done selling to the Republican audience,β Meghan said. βI hope you enjoyed it while you had the chance.β
By the way, on Tuesday Taylor Posts A lengthy Instagram post outlining his support for Vice President Harris and the Minnesota Governor in the 2024 election.
Think youβre Blondieβs biggest fan? Put your reputation to the test.
βIβm so encouraged and impressed,β Taylor explained. [Harrisβs] βIβm thrilled to have @timwalz as my running mate, as heβs been a champion for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF and womenβs body rights for decades.β
The βFortniteβ singer stated that she researched the countryβs issues, proposed policies, and plans, and encouraged voters to register, especially those who are voting for the first time. This seems like a legitimate statement from a public figure, doesnβt it?
Well, Meghan wasnβt exactly thrilled with the endorsement, and to be honest, her reaction was a little worrying.
βYouβre allowed to criticize Taylor Swift and I donβt care who gets upset,β Meghan said. βItβs horrible. If you want to vote for Harris-Waltz, go ahead and vote for her all you want, but to say youβre doing it because of Tim Waltzβs stance on LGBTQ people?β
βFuck Taylor Swift. And fuck everyone who wants to see these kids have their body parts removed, get sterilized before the age of consent, and then go and buy themselves a trillion-dollar mansion and never think about them again,β she said.
But wait. The baseless rhetoric Meghan spewed was in reference to claims that Governor Walz signed bills allowing minors to undergo gender reassignment surgery and allowing courts to take (or, in Meghanβs words, βkidnapβ) transgender children from unsupportive parents.
No! LGBTQ Nation Governor Walz said:Trans Haven StateβThe 2023 Executive Order established Minnesota as a safe state for gender-affirming care and protected caregivers and families from out-of-state prosecution for gender-affirming care.β
Additionally, Walzβs support for LGBTQ+ people extends to anti-bullying efforts, LGBTQ+ marriage, book bans, conversion therapy, and other deeply harmful government policies that affect LGBTQ+ citizens.
So letβs take a deep breath, look at the facts, and calm down about some toxic right-wing talking points.
But Meghan didnβt stop there: her on-camera rant also included criticism of Taylorβs boyfriend, Travis Kelsey.
βThese two people, Taylor and her boyfriend Travis Kelsey, are the epitome of elite snobbism,β Meghan said. βThey both have enormous wealth. She doesnβt care what happens to these kids, just as he doesnβt care what happens to the young people who get the Pfizer vaccine that heβs promoting.β
βTheyβll be sitting in their mansions in Rhode Island and California and New York and flying all over the world saying, βLet them eat cake,'β Meghan continued, βbecause theyβre so immersed in their own hypocrisy, so obsessed with their money and their concerts and their football games, they never think about the people theyβve hurt.β
Look, Iβm not a Swift fan by any means. My favorite album is probably Folkloreprobably because it reminds me of the hipster neighborhood in L.A. where I live. But I think Megyn Kelly giving a five-minute audition for a new MCU villain while criticizing Taylorβs endorsement went too far.
By definition, most politicians, especially former President Donald Trump, are wealthy public figures or celebrities in their own right, so to discredit someone like Taylor solely on the basis of her wealth and status excludes everyone, including Meghan, from these conversations.
Sure, these calculated outbursts and debunked theories may be born out of a desire for attention or an attempt to resuscitate a journalistic career, but for many LGBTQ+ people, the harmful rhetoric is exhausting, threatening our freedom and existence.
Before we criticize pop stars and football players, perhaps we should be more concerned about political candidates who are so obsessed with their money, their rallies and their golf games that they donβt think about the people they hurt.
