In one of the strangers’ crimes in Pride Month, the masked man on an electric unicycle reportedly steals a Pride flag in Longmont, Colorado.

Since Memorial Day weekend – just before Pridemance – the man destroyed the house by bending the flagpole and tearing the flag apart.

Sheryl Corowl, one of the victims; I said Longmont Daily Times-Call At least 10, and perhaps 15 of her neighbors in the Longmont’s Harvest Junction Village neighborhood, are said to be proud by the same man.

“The flags we set are seasonal,” Koraul said of the neighbourhood decoration habits. “So it’s always Packers season after September, and I’m proud of June.”

Colaur started early in late May. On Sunday, May 25th, she noticed that the flag was missing. Initially she condemned the loss of strong winds that cleaned the area that weekend. However, a thorough examination revealed that the flagpole was bent and the grommet clip was extended.

“[T]He was pulled straight,” she said. “And I said, ‘Oh, that’s not the wind.’ Someone obviously took the flag and tore it straight. ”

Colaur posted to Nextdoor to warn his neighbors and received a mixed reaction. “Why do you need to promote gay people?” I wrote one poster. But most of the neighbors were supportive.

Colaur bought a new Pride flag and hung it on the flagpole. Two weeks later, she was at home with her girlfriend.

“We saw each other,” she said. “I was thinking, were those gunshots?”

Downstairs, Korowl discovers that her flagpole was bent again and the flag had been stolen. Realizing it was a targeted attack, she warned her neighbors on Nextdoor and bought more pride-themed decorations: additional flags, a rainbow doormat, several mini flags for the wreath in her front door, and a jumbo size banner reading “Love Always Always”.

Mike Muffalin, one of Collow’s neighbors who lives on the block, is targeted by a masked man who toressed the flag of pride hanging from his front door. The porch lights were on and his children were at home at the time.

“It was a targeted attack,” Mufferin said. CBS News. “All the other flags, team flags, American flags were all left. It was just a pride flag. [that were taken]. ”

On June 7th, Mufferin launched GoFundMe and asked her to help replace the pride flag that was stolen by her neighbors. He raised enough money to buy about 70 new flags. His neighbor was hanging against the masked destroyer. So far, no one has complained about his efforts, he told CBS.

“It was received very well,” he said. “People didn’t like their neighbors being bullied. They wanted to stand up for them. They were standing with them. It’s important that they get strong too, and many of our neighbors who stand strong on this are so strong that we are together.”

Unfortunately, identifying men has proven difficult. Despite submitting a police report, installing additional cameras and setting up fences around her flagpole, Korowur could not stop Bandar from stealing her Pride flag for the third time.

The thief had previously managed to avoid her ring doorbell camera. However, this time he arrives on an electric unicycle, steps into Korou’s front door, tears the flag over the banister, grabs another person, and runs away. Colaur told Times-Call that her neighbor also filmed the footage the same night, showing that the man, who was similarly described, had stole the flag from her pouch.

“It’s almost laughable and he’s on a unicycle to demolish the Pride flag,” Koraul said. “I don’t know where he came from or why he has so much violence in the LGBTQ community, but if he thinks we’re a bit gay by stealing the Pride flag, then she’s clearly a biased view.”

Lindsay Bailey, another resident of the neighborhood who raised the flag of Pride, told CBS News, who had an unpleasant encounter with a man on a scooter that she believes she is responsible for the theft of the flag.

Bailey says the man drove by her house and went outside when she got a little dark, screaming and saying how much he hates Pride Moon. He made such a fuss about Bailey’s husband came outside with a bat. The scooter man turned around and passed by the house again, this time yelling at his husband.

Bailey said the man threatened her husband and promised to return. She said to her, “He raised the flag of my neighbor’s pride and he’s back for me too.”

Police are asking anyone with information about the theft or suspect to contact police at 303-651-8501.

“We understand how recent flag theft is upsetting for our community and continue to work with our neighbours to gather evidence and statements related to these cases.” Times Call By email.

Korowl is concerned that the vandalism-turned-charity appears to be escalating his actions, and she notes that she has a young child at home. She says the situation is “very uneasy” but she is genuinely encouraged by the overall reaction of her neighbors. In the meantime, she says she will continue to raise the flag of pride.

“Every time he steals a flag, I’ll continue to raise a new flag,” she said.

Corow is concerned that the burglar may be escalating, and points out that she has a young child at home. While she calls the situation “very uneasy”, she is heartbroken by her neighbors gathering around the local LGBTQ residents. In the meantime, she says she will continue to raise the flag of pride.

“Every time he steals a flag, I keep setting up a new flag.”
