Tleven Michael Gorky was arrested by Phoenix police on September 17 when he allegedly threatened to shoot Cruzin 7, a popular gay bar near his Arizona apartment. He faces felony charges of creating a terrorist threat and using computers after denounced the LGBTQ community for recent violence.
Police were called to the 39-year-old apartment for welfare checks after the crisis hotline reported that he threatened to shoot a bar, claiming he was “provoked by a political event.”
When officers arrived, Gorky refused to leave his apartment and said “radical left-handed violence breeds far-right reactions.” He cited the recent murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk and the shootings at schools by transgender suspects in Minneapolis and Tennessee.
Police said Gokey made these events unhappy to him and told them he “wanted to hurt others” in order to send a message.
Gorky reportedly told police that “Charlie Kirk is a martian,” that he was a “Charlie Kirk martian” and that “political violence breeds political violence.” He also made some transphobic remarks.
He was booked at the Maricopa County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
Court documents showed Gokey had previously called Phoenix police to prepare a police report, but claimed that if officers do not arrive faster they would “shoot bystanders.” When police arrived he reportedly told them.
