Back in November 2023, Marlon Wayans sparked controversy online when he shared for the first time that his child Kai was transgender and used they/them pronouns in an episode of his TV show. The Breakfast Club.

During this episode, Marlon opened up for the first time about his relationship with Kai, saying that their transformation “helped them change as parents, from ignorance and denial to complete, unconditional love and acceptance.”

Despite mixed reactions from fans, Marlon continued to ruffle the feathers of bigots when he paid tribute to Kai in a now-deleted Instagram post when he did a colorful photo shoot for Pride Month 2024.

On January 2nd, Marlon reinforced his unconditional love for transgender children by giving props to other celebrity parents of transgender children.

You don’t know what you’re talking about. You don’t understand what we’re going through. “You have to align yourself with your kids because ultimately you want them to be happy,” he said. “And I try to make them happy and comfortable because I want them to have a nice, happy life. “Because in our culture, we look for reasons to separate us. Black families matter and whatever you have to do to keep a beautiful black queer family together, that’s what you do,” Marlon concluded. “We need more heroes like that, we need more examples like that.”
