Under the law, doctors, parents, and caregivers could face felony charges for following widely accepted medical standards to help transgender youth survive and thrive.
Of all the ways Greene could leave Congress before her scheduled departure in January, she has chosen to target some of the most vulnerable people in this country: transgender children. Enough of that peace and love.

The result of this vote was bitterly ironic. In recent weeks, Greene has embarked on a carefully orchestrated media tour deploring the “vileness” of modern political discourse and claiming she wants to eliminate hate from politics.
She also appeared in the press of the very “Lame Stream Media”. The View, 60 minutes, She once denounced it and rebranded herself as a misunderstood truth-teller seeking civility. But her final legislative act tells a far more honest story than her previous cable news appearances.
Marjorie Taylor Greene is not leaving Congress for reconciliation or growth. She’s leaving behind atrocities, and she’s record of transhate That’s as long as her list of crazy conspiracy theories.
Over the past five years, Greene has repeatedly targeted transgender people, particularly transgender youth, through both her rhetoric and policy positions. She promoted false claims that transgender identity is part of a broader effort to “groom” children and used inflammatory language that painted transgender people as predators and a social threat.
Greene has regularly amplified misinformation about transgender medical care, rejected the medical consensus supporting gender-affirming care, and used her social media and Congressional platforms to ridicule, mistreat, and delegitimize transgender people as a group.
Rather than addressing the documented risks that transgender youth face, including bullying, discrimination, and suicide, Greene has consistently framed transgender youth as a political issue that must be eradicated, and has made opposition to transgender rights a central and ongoing part of her record in office.
In other words, if there is a face of transgender hatred in America, it is undoubtedly the face of Marjorie Taylor-Greene.
Her hostility towards transgender people is far from subtle and has been present from the beginning. Immediately after taking the oath of office, Greene made her hatred clear. Her hatred was deeply personal, aggressive, and dehumanizing.
That cruelty was exposed in 2021. When I interviewed Marie Newman, then newly elected to the Illinois House of Representatives, defeated a Republican-backed primary challenger.

Newman, whose daughter is transgender, spoke openly about the harm Greene caused soon after entering Congress. Greene had publicly targeted Newman’s family, repeatedly misidentifying her daughter’s gender and using her identity as a political prop.
Green’s office was across the hall from Newman’s office. To my horror, she A crude homemade sign “There are two genders: male and female. ‘Trust the science!'” she declared outside her parliamentary office. Additionally, she publicly targeted Newman’s daughter in a tweet, drawing criticism for dragging Newman’s child into the political attack.
Green’s hatred knows no bounds.
Ms. Newman described the pain this has caused her, not only as a lawmaker but also as a mother trying to protect her children from Greene’s efforts to undermine her. At the time, Newman warned that Greene’s obsession with transgender people was not a one-off provocation, but part of a broader pattern of using transgender lives as fodder for outrage, fundraising and attention.
This story is important now because it sheds light on Greene’s history from the time she took office to her last major vote. The bill criminalizing gender-affirming care is not a one-off. This is the logical conclusion of years of hate speech that has branded transgender children as blackmailers, parents as abusers, and doctors as criminals.
Greene may want voters to believe that she has changed, that she has extinguished the flames of hatred and has discovered a new interest in kindness in public life. But that’s as insulting as it is ridiculous.
Ms. Greene cannot claim to oppose political brutality while promoting legislation that deprives children of life-saving medical care and terrorizes families. Tigers don’t change their stripes this quickly, in public, or in a way that completely contradicts their own behavior.
Greene’s tears over her “meanness” ring hollow in the face of the very real harm she promoted throughout her two terms in Congress.
Greene herself will be gone by the time of the 2026 midterm elections, but unfortunately her influence will not go away with her. Her Republican colleagues will undoubtedly take over her role.
With health care costs rising, inflation continuing, unemployment rising and the economy tightening, Republicans have shown little interest in offering substantive solutions. Instead, they will tap into the hatred that Greene perpetuated and scapegoat transgender people to create a culture war wedge.
I written in the past That transgender people are human beings, not a political issue. Transgender kids are not a topic of conversation. They are human beings with feelings, families, friends, and futures.
They deserve care, dignity, and protection, not some felonious status written to score ideological points or political advantage. The only edge is the edge of pain that comes from being treated as non-human.
Marjorie Taylor Greene’s legacy is not one of courage or integrity. It is a record of intentional harm and hatred. There is no kindness at the heart of a bill aimed at criminalizing sympathy, and there is no morality in targeting children to make the ultimate political statement.
If this is how Greene gets off the national stage, history will remember her as she was presented.
