Organizers of MAGA Invasion, a meetup at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, appear to have chosen a date that coincides with Mini Gay Days, an LGBTQ fan event, setting the stage for a potential conflict.
On November 19, the Southern California conservative group 805 Patriots (which also operates a Facebook page under the name “SoCal Patriots”) announced that it would hold a meet-and-greet for “like-minded patriots” at Disneyland as part of an unofficial event scheduled for February 28, 2026.
One organizer said the purpose of the “Patriots in the Park” event was to “inspire and entertain as many liberals as possible” at Disneyland.
The group is encouraging supporters of President Donald Trump to attend wearing red MAGA hats and merchandise with slogans such as “Make Disney Great Again.” This is a nod to conservative complaints that Disney promotes pro-LGBTQ content and refuses to distance itself from the LGBTQ community.
The group also sells “Patriots in the Park” T-shirts on its website, with each purchase doubling its commitment to the event.
Meanwhile, the “Mini Gay Days” event is part of a series of smaller LGBTQ-themed gatherings hosted by Gay Days Anaheim. The group’s main event, “Gay Day,” is held each September, but organizers add additional programs throughout the year, including smaller themed gatherings.
According to people805 Patriots responded to Disney Dining’s article about the overlap, saying, “We didn’t plan this at all, but it’s going to be a lot more fun.”
In another post on the Southern California Patriots Facebook page, KTLA “Turns out I accidentally planned this on Gay Day,” the news clip was captioned, followed by a “face with tears of joy” emoji. It continues like this. [sic] It’s so much fun that if you don’t come, your whole day will be ruined!!”
Disneyland hosts a variety of official events, but neither “MAGA Invasion” nor “Mini Gay Days” are sponsored or endorsed by the park. Fan-run meet-and-greets like Dapper Day, Villain’s Day, and Nurse’s Day regularly draw large crowds, but Disneyland may deny entry for dress code violations or other rule violations.
Disneyland did not comment on the dueling rally, but reiterated its rules prohibiting flags, demonstrations and disruptive clothing. Although political attire is not explicitly prohibited, it has been reported that parks may deny entry to guests wearing attire that may detract from the experience of others. scene magazine.
