Lil Nas X is making waves again. This time, he does that a lot. Starting March 10th, the Grammy Award-winning rapper and singer has dropped new singles every day, marking a bold, lively new chapter on his musical journey. All of his releases so far, including “Dreamboy”, “Big Dummy!”, “Swish” and “Right There” are all part of a series that marks the beginning of an exciting new era.
The latest release, “Hotbox,” arrived on March 14th, continues the trend with yet another Magenta Hued Visual, adopted by the colorful and playful Lil Nas X in this phase. The track is a groovy pop-lap cut, exploring themes of sensuality and cheating with lines such as “You’ll be a carpet and I’ll be a vacuum.” The song draws a clear influence from musical icons Farrell and Outcast, combining Lilunas X’s signature wit and charisma with a smooth, funky beat. Thanks to its catchy rhythm and cheeky lyrics, many fans call it the best single in the bunch.
The accompanying music video from “Hotbox” maintains a playful Barbie-esque visual theme and offers a peek into the Kenplayhouse of Lil Nas X himself. The video features a pink, drenched world, including a pink pool, pink boxing ring and pink acclaim. This consistent use of colour and Barbie’s aesthetic feels like a statement in itself, pushing the boundaries of what so far is seen by the artist.

Director Elias Talbot, who collaborated with Lil Nas X as cinematographer on his previous project, shared his vision for the video and Faders In an exclusive email interview. “I wanted to lean against the simplicity of the white background, so that his personality would shine and not be cast over the shadows,” Talbot explained. “Originally Montero was inspired by these pink elements and was able to create a story based on that inspiration.”
The location of the video is just as unique as the visual. Talbot revealed that the team chose Lithuania’s Vilinis as the location of the filming. “We searched for the perfect place to shoot this piece, and we landed in Vilnius, all in the place!” Talbot said. “The entire crew and team were incredible. I shot all over the world, and I was overwhelmed by the professionalism and artistry that this whole crew brought to our vision.” It is clear that this place and its creative execution played a major role in bringing this fun, quirky vision to life.
Lil Nas X has yet to announce a full project, but the daily single suggests that something bigger could be on the horizon.
