Legendary Italian fashion designer Valentino Garavani, better known as Valentino, has died, his foundation has announced.
in a statement regarding InstagramThe Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti Foundation announced today that Valentino passed away “peacefully at home in Rome, surrounded by the love of his family” on January 19th.
He was 93 years old.
The foundation added that Valentino will lie in public in Rome’s Piazza Mignanelli at 23:00 on Wednesday, January 21st and Thursday, January 22nd.
It added that his funeral will be held this Friday, January 23, at the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli dei Martiri, Piazza della Repubblica 8, Rome.
Valentino founded his eponymous luxury fashion company in Rome in 1960 with business and personal associate Giancarlo Giammetti, and the brand became known as one of the world’s most successful fashion houses.
